Long scratch under clearcoat
Long scratch under clearcoat
Well since it was such a nice day today in MA I decided to do a nice detailing job on the car. After I was done with the car I discovered a scratch about a foot long on my hood. At first I thought it was just a scuff mark from pushing the snow off the car from the winter. But after trying to get it out with the claybar, and then using some polish on it, I noticed it's not coming out. I tried to feel the scratch but i couldn't feel it with my nail. It looks like it's under the clearcoat. Could this be possible? and if so could this be covered under warranty?
The scratch is horizontal above the heat vent on the hood.
I just took another look at it, and now I know why I can't feel it with my fingers, it's because it's not a scratch. It actually sits higher then the rest of the clear coat. If I rub my finger against it I can feel it slightly popping out.

ya there is no clearcoat for most of the evo's. i think the only color that has the clear coat is the graphite grey. mitsu uses a one step, premixed, process for applying the paint.
