What compromises have you made for your EVO?

Today when I got to work I began to think of compromises I have made to drive the EVO. Here is my short list

1. I have 2 pairs of shoes in the car at all times. I just can't seem to manage the clutch correctly with a pair of dress shoes on.
2. Wearing Sparco harness at all times. Removed the stock belts after installing my harness bar.
3. Daily driving with "race" suspension (coilovers set to stiff and tire peasure at 40+) You never know when you get the urge to take a nice turn
4. Eating Ramen noodles to be able to afford mods j/k

I am sure I have made more but I can't think of any right now. I know some folks here have done some crazy things post up

Spending all my extra money on mods, which leads to no money for any other part of my life, because I just can't get enough.

I really hope you are joking about this. This probably the most unsafe thing you could actually do, unless you have a ROLLCAGE installed. If {god forbid this happening} you get into an accident and you car rolls over and you have your harness on. If your roof colapses 8" or more you can probably say good by to your life. Not pretty. It's happened before. Something to thing about.

1. barely go out to eat or do anything outside of work, gym, sleep
2. gave up skiing
3. rarely buy new clothes
4. don't go on long trips with the car - too much wear and tear and too much money on gas

Soon I'll be able to breathe easy...I've got 10k left on payoff for my 2k5 Evo, after that I'll be able to enjoy life again.

The big thing is just watching how I spend. I used to eat out alot...now I'm cutting back.

I don't plan on spending much (if anything on mods-I live in CA). So its just trying to find a balance between car payments and still saving for the future.

I gave up any bargaining power I used to have against the wife shopping since I spend so much on my car.

Harness only becomes unsafe because your body can't bend to the side in the event of a rollover. I have never seen an EVO accident where the roof has actually crushed in. It would be VERY unlikely to be crushed in a EVO.

Things I've given up for my EVO:

1. Racing. I have not raced one time since I made the decision to get one. Racing is expensive. I am a Season Champion in two SCCA regions, it's tough to give that all up.
2. I am selling my sportbike.
3. I am selling my EF Honda racer.
4. I played the 'free agent' market as far as jobs go, and was able to get a 15% raise in my current raise when I came to them after an interview with another company that made me an offer.
5. I stopped smoking herb 5 times a day, now only do it after the gym and on the weekends. You may laugh, but I'm saving about $200 a month. My anxiety is getting out of control though. heh
