peice broke need help identify!

Yep you are right. It is the wire that goes to the temp sensor, that is in the bottom part of the thermostat housing.

is there an easy fix for this or do I have to replace the whole thing ? it snapped off right where it connects.

replace the sensor. I think i may have one. Pm me if you need it. i will ship it to you free no charge.
