Built Sti motor, FP green, FMIC.

the power comes on a lot later in my car, especially in lower gears, but when it hits 20 psi (on pump) it really takes off. I have the lower gearing of the Sti so the torque multiplication makes it seem to accelerate pretty hard too...

no warranty though, and I suspect all the mods suggested above would leave me with yet another voiced warranty...

I need to check with the dealer what kind of non-warranty power modifications they have to offer.

Damn. Lotta work....you're comparing a 50 trim to a stock evo 9 turbo, of course the evo is going to be slower. I'd bet your Impreza is making a little more that a 100 HP more than the 9. Go with the 9 tho you wont regret it even though the STI is a great choice the evo 9 is definatley(biased) a better choice. Good luck.

You can have the sam power in the IX with just these simple mods: tbe, mbc, flash. And the power comes earlier.

Yup pretty much. The 20g has a 44.5 lb/min comp. wheel and the FPgreen has a 49 lb/min comp. wheel, both are 7cm^2 TD06h units.

tired of it. each mod makes the car less streetable and more management intensive, even if it is way fun to take out on a saturday morning and rip up the streets with it...

plus my wife recommended I get a new car, so I am all over that...

No, the FP Green is a 50trim Garrett/Mitsu hybrid. IT has a Td06H hot side wheel.

I'm wondering how a driver of a Green equipped car wouldn't be impressed with a stock Evo's power, especially if he or she is just babying it during a demo drive and keeping it under 5K.

A big + for me was steering and overall "tightness" of the car. I wasn't able to test the over/understeer propensity of the car, but I'm told one can adjust that with the ASD button or whatever it's called (the three center diff settings).

Power was ok, not terribly impressed, but I did like that it came on pretty early, even in low gears.

I liked that the back seat had a little more legroom than my impreza.

I thought the shifter kind of sucked. It was sort of "sticky," and the throw was longer than I am used to.

Also the interior isn't exactly luxurious, but the seats seem to have good lateral support. Stereo sucked.

It was fun to drive though. I get a pretty steep discount based on where I work too, so pricewise it is attractive. I just might buy one.

Anything to look out for?
Looks like all of the things you weren't thrilled about can be easily fixed. The handling is amazing compared to the WRX (Ex owner myself). The shifting is gonna be more notchy since it's a cable shifted trans. Just be thankful you don't have the WRX 5-speed durability with it. These will handle a lot more power.
