Change hydraulic belt tensioner at 60K?

I have debated weather to change hydraulic belt tensioner on my EVO8 when I get my 60K service next week. I have decided to do it since they might as well do it while they are changing the belt. If the belt every loss tension my car is done so I think it work the $100 I am getting it for.

What are your thoughts?

If the belt is coming off, there's no reason not to change it.

Thanks 4 the input I have talked to some EVO8 owners that say you don't need it but I decided to get it since it very important part that can't fail. To me it like getting a walbro fuel pump. It is better off to be safe than sorry.

When we do the Greddy or HKS timing belts, we always highly recommend changing to a new tensioner as well.

Don't risk your $30,000 car to a $100 part.

On a 6,000 mile EVO, you don't need to change it, but on a 60,000 mile EVO, the window of opportunity is wide open. As you say, better safe than sorry

it's a good idea to change the idler/tensioner pulleys every ~120k as well- every other TB change.

anyone from a dsm background can tell you ....ALWAYS change the tensioner.

i made that mi$take about 7 years ago on my talon. the top end parts and the pistons were a lot more expensive than a tensioner.
