idle problem....lobing

i just got in the dc sports manifold and installed it.....no exhaust leaks that i can hear......although there might be one, not sure. i turn on the car for the test run and let it warm up fully. i notice my car starts idleing funny and then starts lobing and no i do not have cams, stock motor. what could be the problem, here is a list of my mods to help out if they could cause this to happen: 3" tbe, hks rs intake, hks upper intercooler pipe with ssqv (not circulated) and hks eids idler.....i was told to get that for the idle problem how it dips down low with vta.

Who told you that ? First off your title says "lobing" . I think you mean as in the cam lobes. That would be the variation in sound that you get when the shaft rotates, but that has nothing to do with wha you are talking about. First VTA for the Evo is garbage....especially without a air density mod. So that would be one problem. But two.... DUDE, you got a couple of good mods.... but no tune listed , get that thing tuned man. That may be the biggest of your problems from what i see. Send your ECU into Buschur for their Dynoflash base tune or you could even get a custom tune from any near by shop. Regardless your Ecu is probably picking apart the air flow and trying to adjust.... help yourself out man , tune that car .

Here's your todo:
1.) remove hks intake, put the stocker back on (K&N drop-in will work fine)
2.) remove VTA BOV, replace with Forge RS or JDM MR BOV
3.) remove EIDS
4.) sell removed items
5.) get your car to a reputable shop
5a) if you have extra money, install a set of cams and adj. cam gears before the tune
5b) check your manifold for leaks
5c) have the car tuned
6.) enjoy your now perfectly running car

The key to all this is, of course, having a good shop do the tuning. Although, if you follow the recommendations, then a number of mail-in flashes should work w/out any issues. Personally I'd pick the Vishnu Xflash because I have had good experiences with them, but don't take my word for it ... do your own research and make an educated decision.

i understand what everyone is saying about tune.....i have hks 272s sitting here on my floor along with hks adj cam gears and greddy timign belt. my problem is i bought the manifold and wanted to put it on before the whole cam etc install......i never had any problems with the mods i had before i installed the manifold (until today) i plan on getting rid of the vta bov and upper pipe, im going back to stock piping with jdm mr bov. as for intake i plan on keeping it and hopefully the tune will help out for that. and for the lobing part......i knwo what cams sound like and thats exactly what my car sounds liek right now! and i dont have cams in.......so im askin why is it doing this, could it be the valves or somehting along those lines???? or maybe an exhaust leak somewhere or vaccum leak causing it to do this, btw no check engine light either, so im lost.........to sum it all up i plan on tune and cams and gears and tune are all happening this weekend, i just installed the manifold to get a jump on things.

Sounds like you are hurting for a tune. The sound you are hearing doesn't sound like "Lobing" to me , per se. I think your MAF sensor is trying to adjust for all that air and his causing your car to run $hitty. When you start messing with air flow and amount the ca has a tendancy to to stutter and stall so that sound like what you are going through due to the lack of a tune, if that is the case then no you won't get a cell light. I wouldn't get rid of the intake (the BOV though .... hock it) and keep the UICP just get a different BOV for it.
