installed my HKS 272 IN/EX.. Question
I just got my HKS 272 Camsahfts installed in my 2005 Evo 8. Idles like a beast, just friggin sounds mean. and the power I got is amazing!. My question is, When I get to about 3,000 or 4,000 RPM it seems like my exhaust is noise is twice as loud, and I can feel the engine vibration through my shifter and pedal more. It doesnt seem out of balance or anything like that, just louder and can feel more through the shifter and pedal. IS that normal? When I get on it now it just sounds mean!!! i love it
Vibration? Did you remove the Timing belt completely when the camshafts were installed? There should be no Vibration. I have had the balance shaft off and it vibrates around 4000 rpm, like a car with a bad motor mount.
yeah i had to take the timing belt loose cuz it slipped off the crank. but i lined up the cams, crank and the oil pump to their marks and turned it over 2 times and they lined up, so i turned it over an extra 2 times and they still lined up. the only thing that didnt line up when i turned it over the two times it the oil pump but that is because it has a different number of teeth. but i didnt even remove the balancer shaft belt. so that cant be it. I dont know if it is so much a vibration or the extra sound of the exhaust but i can feel the vibration through my clutch petal and the shifter. might be since i got an exedy twin disc racing clutch. I dont know
more than likely your balance shaft is not "in time"
the shaft on the oil pump side needs to be rotated until the timing mark
wants to go towards the timing mark on the housing. alot of people just line
the mark up and they are a few turns out.
also the balance shaft (oil pump side) rides on the timing belt

checked everything over and it is all in time and still 3 degrees BTDC. all marks are on the money. I called Buschur racing ( they are great about answering questions about their products ) and they said it was normal and not to be worried about it. now that i have drove it for 4 or 5 days i think maybe i was just not use to it. its like a rattle in your car... no one hears it but you.
