New Evo IX break-in
you need to give the car a lil spool for a good breakin..soo 4500 is more then enough once you hit that 1000mile mark just let go and let the SPOOLING BEGIN

3,000 miles already and here's what i did (after being flamed as much, well..)
First 600miles rpm's under 3k NO BOOST
Second 600miles rpm's under 5k LITTLE SHORT BURSTS OF BOOST
Third 600miles rpm's hitting 6k LONGER BOOST BURSTS
Now Boosting regular as needed..
I've had about three road races runs (corvette, carrera turbo, Lumina-SS) each of about 2 to 3 minutes of constant pedal to the metal..
My share of reply..

I've heard from a few pretty reliable sources that these motors are run for what would be equivalent to 500 miles before they're ever installed in the cars. That would make sense just like the weak stock clutch because it would keep idiots from needing a rebuild in the first 5000 miles and warranty costs down. I broke mine in gently under 5k RPM until 1000 miles (then put new Mobil 1 in it and went to town!) because I knew it wouldn't hurt to take it easy. I've been making 330whp daily since 2500 miles and it's been perfect.

Honestly, i didn't even break mine in. My mechanic, which i've trusted all my life, told me that on these kind of cars it's good to take em to redline pretty often when you take it off the showroom floor. I did just THAT!!! NO problems what so ever with ANYTHING!!! I have intake, turbo-back exhaust, cams (272's), and a custom tune by Al. He himself stated that my car felt more alive the most he has driven and actually congratulated me on it. I, just last night, ran race gas, and 22 lbs of boost, got 11.8 1/4. NOTHING has ever happened, i agree with stikiller, breakin is way overated and is probably backwords, you should drive the hell outa your car when you get it! It's not no F*ckin M3, beat the hell out of it, it's built for that. People worried bout breakin shouldn't even own this car!!!!! <-- serious!

But seriously I agree with you 100%
You should have 2 books page 3-2 is in the fat one. Chapter 3 features and controls. I know a strange place to put Break-in period.
