Air Horn Sound From Boost

I'm pretty sure i have a boost leak now that i went from my BR upper i/c pipe back to the stock piping. Whenever i boost, i get a loud noise sounding like a fog horn. I used soapy water on all the connection points, but no signs of a leak. Anyone have any suggestions??

Need more details. What rpm, what boost, what gear, how long, what mods?

I assume you no longer have the stock intake, right?

it makes the sound as soons as i start to build boost, around 3k rpms, and in any gear. I have BR exhaust, MAF pipe w/ cone intake, BR deluxe fmic w/ lower i/c piping, walbro fuel pump, apexi afc II, and hallman pro rx man. boost controller.

It could be a massive leak or your turbo just died.

Yeah, sounds like the turbo just **** the bed, but it could be a huge boost leak. Are all IC connections good? It's likely to be an IC connection if you just did an IC pipe switch. I know you said you used soapy water on the connections, but was that during a pressure test?

Then what was the point of the soapy water? How did you build pressure within the IC system without a pressure test? If you haven't done a pressure test, then that should be your first order of business.

i experienced the same problem when I replaced my lower IC piping. I suggest you check the following, make sure that your vacuum hose off your lower IC pipe is not leaking and also make sure that the pill is installed. I replaced my vacuum line w/ a quality hose and the fog horn noise was gone. I strongly suggest that you don't use a cheap vacuum hose...
I found out the hard way...
I highly doubt your turbo has gone bad...
hope that helps... it solved my problem...

LA Evo 8, what vaccuum hose and what pill are you talking about in relation to the LICP? Are you referring to the stock boost hose that goes to the compressor nipple? That shouldn't have any relevance here...

Warratalon,

When I 1st replaced my lower IC piping, I ran into the same problem as posted above, I had NO leaks anywhere else. I was gong crazy trying to figure it out...
When i replaced the stock boost hose to the compressor, the noise was gone. I posted this response becuase I had the same funky noise and like I said, it solved my problem...
