Just got back from the Gainesville test track...
I was out today running the the Martic Sports Car Club annual "Maxi-Pri", basically a solo trial style event at the Gainesville Raceway test track. Its about 1.6 miles of single lane width asphalt track, and the course was laid out with a long initial straight, sweeper at the end, then twisting back and forth through the back and middle areas. Total lap time ranged from FTD of 60.03 seconds (very well prepped Z06 in prepared class, and of course the requisite 58.9 second shifter cart time), to the average time of <70 seconds.
I managed to beat all the stock cars there except one Z06. The other two stock Z06's fell behind my 65.5 second time. The rest of the stock class cars were pretty much way back from that.
This was on my 1100 mile just broke in stock Evo with the stock tires (pressure upped to 40 back, 42 front). The car was smooth, pulled strong through 2nd and 3rd gears (max speed in the layout), and made a lot of race tire shod cars green with envy. Totally flat cornering, controllable drifts, and a major contrast to the 3 WRXs out there with their intense body roll.
Of course the speed was cool, but also cool was everyone walking up the line of staged cars stopping to drool over the car. No one there had seen one yet, and pretty much everyone was amazed at the looks and the performance.
Definitely a nice way to spend a perfect Saturday.

That's funny. Cause every year the SVT Cobra club in NE joins up with the rather large Supra club here in NE to rent Lebanon Valley Dragway. Generally there are quite a few (25ish) Supra's that run. Some of them quite fast actually (and nice). I really had no idea a Supra was a redneck car.
