Unhappy Depressed after crashing evo. Let me know how bad this is..

Its my fault for not replacing my almost bald tires. I did not have the money at the time. It was raining so bad the power went out in the city highway. I was driving at 43mph on a 60 zone. I was on the slow lane and ended up doing a 180 degree turn smahing my rear passenger quarter panel against the median wall HOV lane!! My rim hit flush on the wall causing my tire to blowout thru the sidewall and now the rim has some serious curb damage. I have full coveage insurance that will cover everything. So far my repair estimates are about $5400. And thats prelimanary. They said once its up in the lift, there might be more damage to the suspension. Thats my fear since its an AWD. The steering wheel is crooked when i drive straight and the spare wheel looks like its crooked too. I have spent a good amount of time and money on my evo. I love my evo. Will it ever be the same? I know it can look the same. But my main concern is the suspension and awd. Will it be able to take hard launches again or live to see another day at the dragstrip? I can see that the sway bar moved a whole inch in the pic where its dark black. So how bad is this? I cant hear any noises from the tranny when i drive it. I have the option of having it profesionally painted a whole different color now but my main concern is how bad can the suspension be?

I made my body stiff and held on as i was gonna hit the wall sideways. I had about 4 seconds to do something about it. But i had NO control at all. I tried steering away from it, braking, even doing a complete turn. If i would have not done a complete turn then i would have hit the wall head on!!

That's a tough one. I got hit in the front. But you got the rear quarter panel and the fender flare is aluminum which is pain in the *** to fix. I suggest looking around for a reputable body shop that has done reall flawless work (ie show cars and exotics). I feel your pain though. My ride is almost done just getting the suspension kinks worked out.

There is no reason other than frame damage that it can't be just as good as new. Any frame damage and your car will usually be considered totalled.

And people wonder why I spend hundreds of dollars on brakes and tires...better than spending thousands of dollars on a bent car...

looks like that whole back end might be swayed over.... nothing a lil pull cant take take care of! that suspension is probably just the control arm or somthin unless its because the whole back end is over! lots of variables and things too look at their just have it fixed at a reputable shop you can trust! good luck

It was a miracle no one was behind me. This is a 4 lane big highway i slid across and ended up head on, on the hov lane completely backwards. A few seconds later cars passed by. Im not really concerened with the looks after the repair. Could the tranny be messed up or like an axle?? I hear no noises or grinding when i drive it at normal speeds. The exhaust fell off the hangers and was dragging on the road for a while.

..

I went through this pain as well. I actually lost control in the rain to and went into

the curb with my front left, cost my insurence 10g's to fix. I already forgot about that

day and car runs great. The body shop that did the work for me was kadels, great

guys and if you want here's a link with some pics of my accident.

frame damage on unibodys is very easy to fix and usually takes a lot of damage to be totalled... especially on a car worth 20k! it looks to me like both rear rails are swayed to the left but should pull back pretty easy! even with frame damage it can be as good as new as long as the right person is fixing it!
