I'd actually be a bad idea to have a CF hood. One of the primary things needed with the Evo VIII is heat extraction. CF is more of an insulator, rather than a heat conductor.

Your engine will run a lot hotter with it.

Re: Evo 8 Carbon Hood?

I have a tarmac evo 8, the last thing you want is put CF stuffs.. can't even see it... as for the weight reduction, I rather go to bally to lost 10lb then to put on the CF hood.. cheaper mod..

Not only are carbon fiber hoods extremely light (even lighter then the factory evo hood), but they are stronger then the aluminum hood and hold up to the heat better. Hence the fact that the Mclaren F1's body panels are made from carbon fiber and even some performance rotors and pads are now being made with carbon.

Stillen is selling carbon fiber hoods for the evo 8. They have the vents just like the stock hood. Ask for Kenny in the sports car division... 866-250-5542.

Total waste of money in this car. This is a modification for "show" rather than "go".

Since the hood is already aluminum, you're saving what, five pounds over stock?

My $0.02 - spend the same money on a CF hood on something else for the car - much better return on investment. Much better to get a titanium exhaust and cut 10-20 pounds there... and for half the money.

I agree that it's more for show, but you gotta agree that it would look hot on every color evo (except for black) and it would match the high spoiler very nicely. I hope that all evo owner's aren't going to be cheap with their cars and forget about looks too (and I don't mean RICE!)

Totally agree... that's why I said "show not go".

Would look great on my Lightning Yellow, no question. If one happened to drop in to my lap i would most certainly install it.

Just a lot of money to drop on something for looks alone, considering that our hood is already so light weight.

as stated, i am a CF freak and i'd take cf over a stock hood anyday...

yes i have lots of go fast goodies not yet installed that will put my evo into the 12's, but as of right now, all evo's look the same for the most part...

yes i have tarmac black, i don't want to do a panda bear scheme, white and black, i want my car to be mean looking, stealth, black on CF makes me say 'yum'

i am 'import car scene enthusiast' i'm not a drag strip speed druggie... my car will be a 12 sec show winner...

call it rice, hate my car... i'll do it how i want it to be... i'm sure you don't care

wide volk wheels, clean exterior, CF as much as possible, HKS everything

thanks for your support

Not arguing with that at all. Your money, your car, your mods, your preference.

If you've got the money, go for it. Just not worth the money in my book since our hood is already lightweight aluminum.
