Just got done driving an Evo8: My Review...
The cool thing about the EVO that most of us aren't used too is that the car is so refined power delivery wise. Example: today I raced my buddy in his modded 1st gen Talon (16g, safc, evcIV, full exhaust etc.) his car FEELS way faster and we both thought (using butt dyno) he would smoke my EVO, guess what? The EVO was a lot quicker pulling out several car lenghts in just a couple of gears (2nd and 3rd). We were so shocked we repeated it a couple more times with the same results. Bottom line riding in the cars you would SWEAR that the Talon was a lot quicker becaus of it's big midrange hit and it's loud.
Of course I am not saying that the EVO is quicker that any modded DSM but the EVO is just plain sneeky fast like that, it is so smooth and quite. If you still have doubts just remember the stock 1/4 mile times people all over are getting. Low to mid 13's bone stock

As for the twisties, be sure you try some heel/toe while you're at it. The "low" RPM torque band of the EVO makes heel/toe action unbelieveable. I was shocked when I first tried it on this car. Absolutely shocked. I'm still trying to wipe the smile off my face. That twin scroll 16G comes on INSTANTLY. I see some tail happy 90s in my future.

And the numbers so far show the EVO is deceptively fast in a straight line. It certainly doesn't feel like it, though, sitting behind the wheel.

Nice review. Couldn't have put it better myself.
Completeness is the best word for it - this car is just the complete package, everything all in one. Handling, braking, acceleration, responsiveness.... and certainly "sneeky fast".
