some basic boost questions

Hi

I am a bit confussed about boost pressure on standard evo 8.

Recently I installed Blitz turbo timer, which also shows boost pressure. Boost line I connected here:

I get max boost 0.94 bar and constant around 0.8 bar.
Standard evo 8 boost should be around 1.1 bar and peak 1.3 bar?

Now I dont know...

Is the boost gauge line connected in the right place?
What about boost pressure? Do I have leak?
Where should I connect boost pressure line to get the right reading from boost pressure gauge?

thanks

It means you're seeing only base wastegate pressure (11psi) and have probably been driving around with about 70-80 less WHP than you should. Did you buy your Evo used?

Then the previous owner probably had a boost controller and tried to put it back to stock without using the factory boost lines. You can fix this by either getting the exact factory boost lines from Mitsubishiparts.net for $15, or you can just install a boost controller. Right now, though, your stock boost system is giving you minimum boost, because it's not configured properly.

This happens all the time with used ones. Are you really in Slovenia? IF so, it may be more difficult to get the stock hoses.

Read on the how to forum to check if those lines are in. If not, it's easy enough to put in a boost controller and should be one of your first mods to hold consistent boost.

If you are planning on any modding, or have power mods already, definately go ahead and get a boost controller. I wish people would put back stock boost lines when they sell the car. I will.

I assume that there were installed mechanical boost control because boost hoses are in the cabine (one on A pillar - probably boost gauge and one in the centre console - ash tray), and the hoses are connected with T piece in the place on the first picture.

is that the correct place to control boost?

thanks

No, just because those hoses are there it does not mean that a mechanical boost controller was installed.

Look under the newbie "how to" under boost control installation. You will be looking for a hose coming from the wastegate actuator into something (Boost controller) If not, it will be going into the stock boost solenoid and that could be the problem that others mentioned. See if you can trace the boost wires from the turbo and wastegate. If not, buy a boost controller and follow those instructions how to install it.

I'm happy to inform you that my car from now on runs on peak boost 1.4 bar

Problem was resolved with stock hose (I took it from my other evo) between solenoid and turbo

I must admit that never in my dreams would think that such hose can do such problems

thanks everyone for help!

PS: now I need one stock hose that connects solenoid and turbo
