Ok so I'm going on a Cross Country trip this summer from California to Illinois. I'm traveling with my father and my aunt, not to say anything against them but they aren't the best of drivers when its comes to Manual cars (They are older people). So I'm not sure if I want to take the Evo with me?
I want to know what I should do about the Evo while I'm gone? Where should I leave it, should I leave it in storage? Should I drive it and trust them with it (Only thing I'm really worrying about is the clutch, I'm fearing they'll burn it before we get back)?
Do I have any other choices?

I can't imagine driving cross country in an Evo with passengers. They would be very uncomfortable.
Regardless, though, why does it matter how they drive? Why wouldn't you just drive the whole time? When I moved from VA to CO, I drove the whole time. The plan was to switch off with my wife, but I just never relinquished the keys. We didn't drive straight through, though, if that's what you plan on doing.

I would rather drive cross country, but I dont think I'd be able to stand it, at least not in the Evo.
Are there any types of businesses that would hold my car (like moving storage but for cars?) No one would be home (mom and sister taking plane before us) so I fear vandalism, or even someone breaking into the garage and flatbedding it away.
On another note, if I were to get a different car what would you guys reccomend (good mileage, decent size, confortable)

I drove cross country from LA, CA to Chicago in a rental. F that...it's like 2000 miles one way. Best off renting a nice luxury car (Chysler 300c what I had) and enjoy the scenery. Really the drive there isn't to bad cause your all excited about the trip but, it's a total beatch driving back and it's even worse when you know your 4 hours away from your comfy bed but, your totally spent on driving all day. Gas is also somewhat cheaper in the middle of boofoo nowheres. Oh, also if you have a radar thing bring it....Got a speedin ticket 104 in a 65 zone in some small town no longer than 2 city blocks in wyoming (Lusk to be exact)... Thought I was gonna get a fat ticket but only turned out to be 147 bucks and they didn't even put it on my record!!!
About leavin your car....if you don't trust leavin it at your pad or with someone, I dunno how close you are to a somewhat major airport but usually they got places you can park your car there for how ever long you want but, from what I hear be prepared to pay a pretty penny. Might as well just leave it at home and pull the fuel pump fuse.

First, I can't even imagine how many rock chips I would have on my car if I drove it cross country.
Second, My back starts to hurt after a 1 hour drive in the EVO.
Third, Being lowered and having 40 series tires does not allow me to drink anything in the car without in spilling all over me.
Fourth, I can't really say I would trust the EVO on a long distance trip?

the back seat is not for the faint of heart when it comes to long trips, but I've had plenty of people fall asleep in the passenger seat as I cruise at around 26MPG on long trips. Just be wary that you're only gonna get around 300 miles to the tank.
on OEM tires? (A046) say bye bye to half your tread once you've completed the one lap of america cruisin style.
leavin it behind? just toss it in your garage. anything happens use your insurance, you know the thing you dump hundreds of $$ in without any return.
rental car? for a trip like that I would go no less than a Caddy CTS. You're gonna miss the performance already let's at least get a car that clips decently but comfortably.
worried about thier driving? if you're even considering them to drive they must be decent enough to be able to learn in the first 500 miles... besides, clutch ain't gonna get burned up while at speed on highway.

This is my 3rd trip to the desert and every time i leave my car in storage the hole time. I put it up in jack stands, drain the gas, and put a car cover over it. Get a climate controlled 10' x 20' storage unit and you will be good to go. It will cost you about 125 to 175 for the hole month. I hated driving my evo for 18 hours straight
