I installed a new HKS DLI2 into my 05 EVO 8 and regapped the plugs to .028

The car started up fine, runs fine, idles smoother and pulls better in every gear, but when I shut off the motor and take the key out of the ignition, my ABS light comes on for like 2 seconds and then turns off, then my turbo timer counts down to shut the car off..

Have anyone of you ever encountered this problem before? is it normal? What could be causing it?

I called a few tuner shops and even HKS USA's tech support and nobody seems to have a clue.

I have the DLI equiped in my car and had none of those problems.. I have had them on 2 evos.. Try to swap another DLI box with someone else and see if the problems still continues...

 

yea I would swap with someone, I have never heard of that before either...

 

I need to get down to a meet and see if anyone can swap with me to do the testing....

its so wierd that this would happen....

 

i had the DLI in my evo8 w/ TT too.
it did the ABS blinking even b4 i put the DLI in, did the same thing after DLI was put in.

Pull your DLI out and see if it does the same thing.

 

I did I pulled it out and everything went back to normal.....

HKS tech support was baffled as to why this would happen.

The funny thing is that my HKS EVC 5 EBC would beep loud, as if i was turning the car on, (but not starting it), then the ABS light comes on for 2 seconds then shuts off...then the turbo timer counts down and shuts the motor off.

I looked at the owners manual and the best explanation it gave was that the ABS system light comes on for 2-3 seconds when the car is turned on because its doing a self check....

So all in all after all my research the only thing I can come up with is that:

1) The ignition system has nothing to do with the ABS system
2) As long as the ABS light turns off after it does a self check before I start the engine and stays off while I'm driving then its all good.
3) According to HKS tech support as long as the car starts up, runs and drives normally, and the red led on the DLI 2 is lit, then there is no problem.


HKS took down my complaint and told me that they would pass it along to their R&D dept. They will try to replicate the problem and get back to me (no time frame specified) once they have an answer.

but anyhow, the tech I spoke to was shocked as they mentioned that the DLI2 is one of their hottest selling products for the EVO and that this is the first time they have ever heard of this problem
