What do i need to covert to a 5peed tranny from a 6 speed? I already hav the tranny and the shifter with cables what else do i need? Also are the ratios in the evo8 5peed the same as the evo9 5 speed?

why would you want to do this????

You would only need a rear diff if you change out the front diff (transfercase), and the one you put in had a different final drive than the one you took out. Front diff and rear diff need to be matched, transmissions can be interchanged.

"worth it" depends on just how competitive you are. Unless you are in it for a lot of money, it depends on how much the change costed you. I do like my 5 spd though

Other than what you have you will need the Tranny side mount and that is it we put a 5 Speed in an 05 MR and the Center shifter consol also from the MR and by the way i have one for sale also.

Clear this up for me....please. Do i need to change the center console out of the MR to accomodate the 5 speed shifter?

 

You don't have to but to look better you will, the MR Consol has a losser fitting boot than the 5 Speed Evo and your putting in the 5 Speed shifter if you look at the two you will see. So no you don't have to but it will look at home there if you do.
