Trading in my 06 Mustang GT

Well, after making a huge mistake of purchasing a 2006 Mustang GT i'm back where I started. I had wanted the Evo to begin with but ended up going the other route due to some parental guidance and their leaniency to help purchase the vehicle. I know am planning on trading the Mustang in for a White Evo MR and could use some help with the pricing. The dealers are trying to mark up the price tags on them and keep telling me to come into the dealer to talk about it (which I don't want to do quite yet) and I was quoted $23,500 unseen for my car (which is payed off).

They want $38,000 for the Evo although I know they are willing to shave $ off to get me to purchase it, but mainly are there any other MR owners that can help me out on the strategy of your purchases?

Thanks, Jeff

Nice, I traded in a Mustang GT to get my Evo. It wasn't an 06 though, it was an 02.

Do a search for SouthCoast on here and print off their pricing and take it to them and tell them to match.

If you lived around NYC or NJ I would recommend Maywood Mitsubishi best customer service I've ever experienced, I bought my 06' MR GG from there no hassles just quick, easy routine paper work and preparation. If you really want the car you can always drive to another state, just think of it as a very expenssive road trip.

He can't do South Coast because he wants to trade in his Mustang.

Now if you could sell you Mustang privately, South Coast Mistubishi is the way to go for all people looking to buy an Evo. You can do all the paperwork over fax and ship the car, and still save thousands.

In all reality you're just going to have to find a better dealership in your area. Don't pay any mark up on a new Evo, they aren't that rare. AT MOST pay MSRP, if they want anymore move on to the next. Look all over Florida if you have to. You will never be able to justify paying $38k for an Evo.

You can always check Ebay, there are always one or two dealers that put up 06' MRs on there, try giving them a call and see whats good. Doesnt hurt to try if you really want the car.

I know that he can't buy from South Coast but he can use their price quotes that are posted in here for all to see and show that to the dealership to begin negotiations. It was just my .02.

Good luck on the purchase you will never regret it.

After looking on the South Coast website, would I be getting a good deal paying 36k for one down here in Florida? I am going into the dealer at around 5pm to get a total breakdown on everything they can do for me including my trade in. I can't believe how pricey these MR's actually are, although I know how much of an amazing car they are.

I'm going to get at least $23,500 for my trade in (going to ask for more) and sticker was 28 something pulled down to 27k. I payed 32k overall with taxes so I will most likely be losing like 8k!! That's the only problem with doing this and i'm debating if I should wait a year, but I won't be able to get a new MR anymore...

sigh..

Oh yeah, that is a good idea to use the price quotes from South Coast. I thought you were saying he should go there, and i was jsut saying that was unrealistic.

I think you will be very happy trading your Mustang in for an Evo right now, i am about to trade in my 2005 for a 2006, it's worth the loss. Though i think you should look at bluebook trade in for your Mustang and except nothing less. Also like i said, don't pay sticker, pay MSRP at most.; which is $36,299. So yes $36 in Florida is nothing to complain about.

You will always get more money for your old car if you sell it yourself. Autotrader works well.

You guys on this forum are a lot more helpful/understanding then over at the Mustang forums i'm used to. They act like Mustangs are the best cars and talk about spoilers on STis and Evos and how funny they are. I know that stuff goes around and there is trash talk but I mean they get out of control whenever somebody mentions any car that isn't made by Ford.

I'm going to request 36k for the car nothing less, and a minimum of 24k for my Mustang. KBB for my car was almost 26k (that is the quote the dealer got for me), I should recheck it just in case but that seems about right. Their white MR is in Tampa (about an hour and a half away), so hopefully we can work something out tonight and the Evo will be on its way.

south coast is actually a good bargaining chip against local dealers such as maywood mitsu. My friend just got one at maywood, and i've always been treated right there.

my one complaint about them is i brought the car in for a rattle, and they told me what it was... they said it was the bumper and they wouldn't fix it under warranty because "some how the bumper had come off at some point" wtf is that crap. the car was completely un-modded at the time, and I was clueless to how to take the front bumper off myself. needless to say i was less than impressed with their service department.
