Agreed.. you should Definately not do this. You have no IDEA how much 5 years really is. You are also not realizing that as you get more power on that Evo the Chances of things breaking and maintenance is going to kill you. In 5 years you might actually get tired of it and you'll still be paying that loan. Trust me don't do it. You'll completely regret it. I don't think you realize how much 20,000 dollars is until you are actually paying it. Besides 1,000 X 5 years. That's 1,000 + (5 X 12) or 60 = 60,000 Dollars.. C'mon.. Are you seriously about to pay 60,000 dollars for upgrades.??? I rather put a down payment on that new skyline for this kind of money. Good luck when you finally decide you want to buy a new house but you're still paying 60,000 for upgrades. Don't worry I'm sure someone on EvoM will pay you 60,000 dollars for an evo in 5 years after you mod it. Are things starting to make sense now. Stick your head out your racing *** and welcome back to reality. Like Rez90 said Don't buy stuff you can't afford.

If you really have to satisfy that speed itch.. Simply save that 1,000 a month for 3 months or 5 months and go for a stage 3 Evo from AMS or any other shop. Good luck.

When you're done modding you're Evo, you'll be owing the bank $60K and you'll have a ride that's worth about $35K. Instant huge negative equity.
Think about it. What if you can't afford the monthly payments and have to sell the car??

Not a good idea IMO.

Finance the Evo with as much down as you can and mod as you go w/ money you have.

Save your 20 grand and invest it in a good ROTH IRA or mutual fund.

In 5 years, gas will be $6.00 a gallon anyways.

How old are you, seriously? You want to get a stroked 35r setup, but cant perform basic mechanic tasks. You were over your head with BPU so why on earth do you think you can handle an extreme build?

It is funny you ask this question. I was in the position to almost do the same thing you are trying to (or thinking of) but seeing how my credit is worse than a jobless midget (midgets are funny ...thats why) i got turned down of course. If you are anything like me (and by your post you are), you start spending the money in your head before you even have it, you get in a red hot frenzy over the possibility to have a ride that is so smooth it makes Billy D Williams look like Dave Chapell you lose sight of reality. Life is more than your car and one day you may need to have that money for (God forbid) an emergency and have blown the credit on your car.... don't do it. After i got rejected there was a overwhelming sense of relief that i didn't get the money because of the financial burden it would have put on me. Let it go man and mod your car reasonably, this is a life style that we live modding these cars but it is not worth the hardship of being strapped for so long. My 2 cents.

That monthly payment is more than I pay for my mortgage, homeowners insurance, and property taxes combined. I am looking at it this way. Let's say you have the money to make that payment every month. In my opinion it would be the same if you did not get the extra 20k and had a much lower monthly payment, spending the extra you would have used on the 1k payment to still buy the mods. It just might take you a bit longer to get the mods. That way you are not making that big payment each month. If you do simple math ($1000 a month x 12 months x 5 years) it comes out to $60k. I love my Evo but, there is no way in hell I would pay that much for it just to get the extra money for mods.

Wait, where do you live? Just my taxes, flood insurance, and property tax is $9k per year . That does not even include my mortgage payment .
