Angry Broke my Car

Well that didn't take long. Only had the car for a month(exactly a month today). Hit a rock sitting in the middle of the turning lane at about 10mph. Ripped my filter a new one, and took a piece of whatever the filter was screwed into with it. Shut it off immediately.

Anyone have any idea what the damage is gonna be? Engine shouldn't've been starved for oil very long if at all.

"Rock"? Sounds more like a boulder.

Filters are cheap. Oil is cheap. What the filter was screwed into... well my friend, that may cost you a little.

Haha...I get that alot.

The WRX was totalled. My uncle got drunk and ran into a tree, only 300ft from his house.

What exactly is the filter screwed into? The block?

filter screws to the block. If you've broken that part, its going to be an expensive fix.....thats IF you can fix it. Good Luck

Filter screws into the block... lol!

Filter screws into the oil filter bracket, which is bolted onto the oil pump (also called front) case. The bracket shouldn't be very expensive to replace in terms of part cost, but replacing the front case is a lot of labor.

Mitsu calls it a bracket. I like to call it oil filter housing too...
