I agree, but when he starts modding, it will be much faster than an 8 with similar mods.

er... i guess 30 more hp to the wheels than an 8 isn't much faster. wonder what that is to the the crank? if you believe that the 8s were 276hp - thats at least over 300bhp in the US versions. Its the general consensus that the IX's are underrated by Mitsu, where have you been?

 

The VIII was rated at 276hp @ the crank not the wheels....The U.S. version IX is rated 286hp @ the crank...The IX is faster but not like mouth dropping faster stock for stock, but they respond way better to bolt on mods than the VIII....

 

in europe and i gess the middle east there evos are faster like the stock 400bhp one in the top gear video

stock for stock there isnt much of a difference in hp rating between a 05/06, but IX shines when it comes to mods, and its because the car has a bigger and better friggin turbo/MIVEC. pretty elementary.

get a IX turbo, or a 20g-9, or any turbo kit and some cams you'll somewhat level the playing field. (with supporting mods of course)

Just put the 9 turbo on the 8 and problem solved.
