Evo with Low Profile Spoiler
Funny. I was looking at my window sticker this weekend. I don't have it in front of me right now, but one of the features is "low-profile GT spoiler" or something like that, and it says "included". Later on, under options, is the cf spoiler.
Doesn't this imply that we all paid for a low-profile spoiler that none of us have received?

If you got the high wing, then you paid extra for it, and NO you don't get
both items when you pay for the upgrade.
For example, If you pay for 17" wheels and tires as an upgrade, you don't get the stock 16's to take home.
The low "GT" wing is standard in the standard price.
And, the low wing is not the wing that's on the OZ. From what I understand it's a completely different looking wing more like the EVO GT-A.
I don't think anyone is "taking a chance" by getting EVO's with standard low wings. The tall wing is not what draws people to this car AND the tall wing is the more expensive item at $480. I don't want a tall wing and don't want to buy an EVO with one if I can find one without. Thus, my local dealer will lose a sale (I'm sure there are more) because he refused to order an EVO with the standard GT wing.

Also, the Mits brochure speaks of a low "GT" wing/spoiler. The R&T issue shows a Mits EVO "GT-A". Since there is no definitive on the issue, and one dealer said it looks like the "OZ" and another said it doesn't, I'm believing that a "GT" wing is what is on the GT-A. The Lancer wing wouldn't look right on the EVO anyway. There are too many body differences between the Lancer and the EVO to think the wing is the same one.

I was browsin around and came across a copy of the EvoVII GT-A brochure, which included pictures of the optional wings.
The factory installed wing is a low-profile with high stoplight, like the OZ:

It also mentioned however that an adjustable high wing was available as an option, as shown in the pic. Looks like the standard high wing on the Evos to me.
Obviously this was the VII, so no gaurantees, just maybe an idea of whats coming.

projected sales mix of orderable configurations:At Launch: 25% A00, 75% A61
Remainder of Year 1: 55% A00, 30% A61, 10% A64, 5% A05
A00 = Large Spoiler
A05 = Small Spoiler
A61 = Large Spoiler + Sunroof
A64 = Small Spoiler + Sunroof
Of course
can change this as they desire.If these numbers hold, the A05 will be the most limited configuration offered, approximately 2.5% of total sales if initial launch allocation and remaining year 1 allocation are of equal number.
I would take the A05 in a heartbeat and leave the boy-racer large spoiler to those seeking the additional attention it generates. However, I was not willing to wait for the follow-on allocation so I bought the first A00 that became available.
If the low spoiler turns out to be a direct bolt-on replacement, I'll change mine out and keep the large CF one for when I eventually sell the car.

Am I the first??
Just received "small evo wing" today and installed it!
Looks even better than I expected. Installation was easy; just unbolt the large one and pry it loose (be very careful not to dent or scratch the trunk as it is stuck on tightly) and then install the small one - just bolts on using the same holes. The hole for the 3rd brake light is already there and you simply unplug the existing middle brake light and plug in the one for the short wing after extenting the wires. Whole job = about 1 hour total time or less.
The short wing is the same as the Oz (that's what I used).
BTW I got mine from classified section of this forum (Hey, thanks Ruben) for $100 plus $30 shipping. My car is silver and I got the silver Oz wing and the paint nearly matches! Its not perfect but is fine until I can get it painted. My body shop is working to get the Apex Silver paint mix numbers and then it will get painted.
I think the short wing will prove very popular - the car really needs a wing to look balanced. I like the big wing too but for most of my work I am better off with the small wing. Will keep the big one and switch to it from time to time. The switch; now that I have done it - will take probably 10 mins. Just 2 -10mm bolts amd 2=10mm nuts.
Cheers!

Forgot to mention on my short spoiler installation that it was also necessary to remove the stud on the center piece. On the Oz there is a hole in the center of the trunk for this stud. I didn't want to drill a hole (so when I use the tall spoiler there won't be a hole showing) so I took vice grips and twisted the stud till it broke and then drilled out the 1/16" piece that was left sticking up. The stud is connected to a small metal plate which is bonded into the center piece. Actually once you drill on it enough the plastic gets hot and you can pry the little metal plate out. Can't do pics just now - going on a trip - sorry!
If that's the OZ wing, then that's the wing I was referring to.
The Lancer I saw did NOT have that wing. The dealer was trying to tell me that the low wing was what was on their Lancer, however, the wing on the Lancer they had didn't have that wing.
I like the GT-A's wing.
Thanks for the Pic. I'm not familiar with the Lancer as it's not a car I would consider for myself. (nothing personal to those who do)
Looks very nice, I like it! I'll take a short wing'd silver with sunroof please.

Huh??
OK I read that the low profile spoiler for the Evo is the same as the one on the OZ. If this is true, then that means that the Evo VIII spoiler will fit onto the runk of an OZ...right!
