So, just for the record, he gave you a price, you didn't want to pay it, so he didn't want to give you his service. And, he was late (happens often in this type of business). This was all probably due to miscommunication which could all have been resolved before you ever drove to his Al's hotel. But, it wasn't, so in all fairness, this is exactly how things like this are supposed to play out. It's Al's business, and he can do what he wants. In turn, you have the right not to pay for this service, and you have the right to post on here with your experience. Further, we all can chime in on it.

My $0.02 is...why are you driving around with cams and no custom tune when you could have had a custom tune for a mere $100? At these prices I somehow doubt Al is saving enough to buy a small island or yacht or anything.

He doesn't sell product, he sells service.

I agree with you 100%

I love working long hours and that is what I expect

I also bend over backwards to help customers who have problems of any kind

For exmple lust on this trip alone

I was up till nearly 3:00 a.m. last night after having copmlications tuning a car that had a racing seat set up I could not fit and and had to tune it from the back seat all night after landing off my 6 hour plane flight - it had to be done as the customer was doing a road racing event tonight

Today, I had to extend a tune when a customer's lower fimc coupler split - I had to wait ill he could take off his bumper and borrow a coupler from another car - no problem of any kind on my end

I had to modify the boost pill on my last customer's IX tune after a 12 hour day of work to get the proper boost - no problem what so ever

Working hard and working smart is what I am about

I am not about traveling to provide free update tunes - it simply is not going to happen - ever

He's an excellent tuner, BUT, his follow up, people skills(ie.tact) and professionalism has suffered greatly! I believe that if he hires some help and polishes things up, his business will continue to grow. If not, well then?
As a business owner and a veteran, I know all about the importance and cost of maintaining a professional attitude with my customers, with out it, I couldn't survive in this HIGHLY competitive world. These rules apply to everyone!

Ok i hate posting in vendor complaints because i do hate to see some of the stuff that is said. But i will throw in my 2 cents as i am a customer of Al's and i'm speaking from a customer standpoint.

When Al tuned me last August the tune was great, noticed a great performance gain (since then my tune has been erased by mitsu when i didn't have time to do my own 30k inspection and they did it... anyways) yes al does seem very rough around the edges, but that might be because some people are very uptight at first.

I know first impressions say a lot and when i met al he shook my hand firmly (sign of respect), and said its an honor to meet you, and i'm some regular joe schmo off the street. He was very respectful to the 6/7 evo guys that showed up that day.

On the tune, yeah al may question parts you put on, but i think thats all in good nature to figure out exactly why your modding the way your modding to really dial in a tune that suits YOUR needs. I can not say or comment on the fact that he says bad things about customers because only thing he said to me about customers was "those are some really nice and cool guys you have here"

Also on the tune we talked about life, how he started, his modding and tuning history, steeler football, pittsburgh. He was just a overally nice guy. However i can see how somethings he says people may take as "offensive" or "harsh" but Al is an upfront in your face honest guy. I think we all should not jump on his case yet and get his version of what happened.

And as for this situation i am 50/50 on this it really depends on what al says. Anyways thats my 2 cents.

Oh btw al PM me and let me know when your free so i can get my tune reinstalled on my car.

Al this is a TINY suggestion but maybe you should start making Dynoflash Power Packages (and no not buschur) so people know what you see fit as a good modding path. Just a suggestion

i got to hand it to al. everytime i see a post about the guy i read it. the person says blablabla spit smack slam. but then al comes in an says what really happened. y do you waste a mans time when you dont even explane yourself when you post a thread. it is funny that after al says the true story the thread seems to dissapere. i think al has the most so called problems because of valum. his customers are 30% and more then anyone else. still yet to have any sereuse problems. so id take that into thought guys. but when people post they eather need to not post or speek the true story. al i think you did the right thing. and your right you cant be late for something your not ment to do. lol. i like that one.

i own retail locations and to quote mallrats " the customer is always an *******". not that is you at all i just always liked that line. on the other hand i have been tuned numerous times by al on my viii. he always took the time up to three hours once for basic boltons. if you drove all that way to get tuned put all that money on cams and an install unless you installed them yourself why would you not want to pay $100. it's like buying a fuel pump or head studs, insurance. al is hard to take sometimes but one thing he knows is tuning evo's. your car probably runs like crap at idle and al would of straighted it out real fast. i really do not like to give my opinions on an Internet forum but i think you should of gained 40-60 hp on al's tune and that in my opinion is worth $100. i don't know if you had a previous agreement with him so i am not judging you at all but good luck with that situation. i'm local to ams and you don't even want to know what I'm paying for a tune on there dyno and then when gsc comes out with there cams a retune. i think that is great customer service just getting out of your car and not getting in a verbal argument. good luck and again that's just my two cents. but what do i know.

Well, I have worked many different jobs when I was younger, ranging from customer service to sales (inside and out).

What I have found from my experience is that happy customers will tell others of there great service and un-happy customers will tell the HOLE WORLD of their sh*ty service.

The more that are happy the more business you will do.

Don't get me wrong Al, I will definitely see you some time this summer for a full tune.

But sometimes you can be discouraging.

i can remember i while back i spoke with al and some of the parts i had had nothing to do with anyone he delt with . he said to me nice parts btw. made me feel good for a moment. he then gave me good future ideas as i fallowed them to this day.

also there was a miss understanding between us a long time ago. i dont no if he took it in and beleaved me but to this day he has helped me and we spoke a few times. he is nice to me as i am to him.

with that said i beleave all is in the past everything forgoten and i stand with al when someone bashes him or *****es about him cause 99% of the time most of the story is left out and that al has to waste more time to reply for everyone else so they see al did nothing rong.

spell check that for me to if you could. thanks pal.

Carlos,

That's all fine and whatnot, but the point is that my friend had a custom tune with Al, Al told him to provide a laptop for the 3 maps that my friend requested so that Al could put the maps on the laptop for him to switch between. When I picked the car up, Al said that he can't put the maps on the laptop cause he didn't provide a jumpdrive. That was fine, Al told me to have my friend e-mail him the maps, my friend was in Cancun, so he couldn't e-mail, I asked Al if i could get the maps from him the next day at the shootout if i brought a jumpdrive, he said fine. Next day at the shootout, he couldn't give me the maps, said to have my friend e-mail him still. 2 days later my friend gets back from Cancun (Tuesday) and e-mails Al to get the maps. He has e-mail him at least twice, and called at least once, and still no maps, it is now Sunday. This car has been driven daily, this entire time, on a racegas map, with racegas in it. You do the math. He needs his pumpgas map, end of story. I understand Al is busy, but if he is that busy, he needs to hire some help. My point is that he needs to get maps and other such things that current customers have paid for to them before he starts getting involved with other customers.

Did anyone see the OP say this in post #1

He sits down does his thing we go for a quick drive come back and then he hits me with that will be $100 bucks. I am thinking WHAT. FREE reflash.

I have seen him say the reflashes are $75
Ummm... so he thought by driving down to a appointment flash session, without a APPOINTMENT, he could get a 75 dollar reflash for free . And Al even accomadated him up to a certain point.
