Evos on speedvision?

I turned to the end of the show but from what I gathered there were 2 stock evos giving. Each had 3 days to see who could get the most hp out of them in those days.
At first they said no nos but when they got to they dyno one used nos.

There was a black one and a silver one. Black used nos and silver didn't. Black got about 530 on dyno and silver got 550. Then they took it to the strip of LV and raced. Streets were closed on the main strip. Silver jumped early so the black hit the nos to catch up but ended up blowing the engine.

I was wondering if anyone else saw it and if they could elaborate on it more.

Also I noticed the silver was runnin an ams intercooler....I'm guess the rest of the mods were ams also. Not sure what the black one used but I think it wasn't ams...at least I didn't see it on the intercooler.

Its a pretty old episode. There is nothing really to elaborate on......they had two tuners that really didn't know much about building evo's. I'm sure it will air a few more times.

Who were the two tuners? I did not feel like reading all of that link. From what I read AMS supplied the parts, did they do the tuning as well?

Uhhhhhh they just used AMS parts, AMS didnt have anything to do with the tuning at least from what the show actually aired. I dont even think they were mentioned. It was between Rado Racing and the Lucas Oil racing team.

Each had an AMS turbo kit. Rado Racing (Chris Rado) had the best tuners/crew and was able to extract 550whp (Dynojet) on just turbo while the other team used a crap load of NOS to make 530whp. It was kind of sad actually.... the NOSed EVO ended up blowing up at the end. I bet if some of the EVO community tuners saw it, they'll laugh at the NOS team.

*edit* - Unless that was Martin tuning Chris' car. Rado was just in the passenger seat while the driver did the tuning it looked like. Car sounded 1000x better than the Lucas Oil car too!

I watched the tail end of the show when the black evo head gasket blew up. I think the silver evo launched a bit early and the black evo sprayed the whole bottle trying to catch up. Pretty good eye candy.

He cracks me up... it was cool how he was saying he was gonna lay it down without NOS too. He knew you dont need the extra power adder to take advantage of the bigger turbo.

Does anyone know what turbo kit was actually on each car? Hopefully AMS could chime in. I'm guessing a GT35 or something...
