Mitsu want $135 to check fuel pressure???

So,

Called the local mitsu dealer the other day to see about getting my fuel pressure checked, very simple process, just want them to check the idle pressure then pull the vacume line off the FPR and check the pressure again since I'm trying to sort out a leaner than most with my mods issue.

They told me no problem, $90, bring it in wednesday am. Show up today and the mechanic starts giving me some bs run around and asking me all sorts of questions about why i want the pressure checked, telling me if there was a problem with the fuel system the car would just "cut out".

I finally told him look, I just want you to check the idle fuel pressure, then pull the vacume hose off the fpr, put your finger over the end of the hose and check it again. Then he starts with the "well, i'm not sure were the adapters are, theres like three of them and I have to track them down and then figure out which one it is. Then he tells me it would be $135. Then they tell me to come back tommorow after they have time to track down the adapter.

WTF.... These are the same guys that replaced my brembos after my warranty expired and got mitsu to cover it for me..... I think they had some turnover and the younger dsm guy is no longer there... ANyway, it's a freakin 30 minute job and they want $135 for it? Come on.

Only reason I asked them to do it is so I don't have to go cutting into any H.P fuel lines to install a gauge. I think at this point I'm just gonna go ahead and install a gauge unless someone knows where to get the mitsu adapter for less than $100.

Screw it, cut your line. If you were to install a N20 wet kit, you would have to cut it anyhow.

I wouldn't pay that either. While your cutting your line anyway, install a fitting so you can check it yourself anytime you want to, and buy a tire guage to check it with.

That is way too expensive..... It doesnt matter why you wanted it checked..The point is you wanted it checked. They should just do what they are getting paid to do. If you had other questions you would have asked them.

Right Right.. Agree with what everyone is saying. That is why I was like, WTF man. It is sad when you have to tell a mitsu mechanic how to check the fuel pressure on your evo, especially when he claims he has been working on 4G63's for "years".

Any tips on the best gauge setup.. I'm a little worried about putting anything inline that may leak or cause a line diameter restriction...

I would find out what the inside diamater of the line is, and get a piece of pipe that you can weld and place inside the line afterward. I'de say about 2 inches long. Then get you a metal valve stem like goes on your tires. Cut the rubber part off and drill a hole in the middle of the pipe you got that is the same size as the inner Dia of your valve stem. Weld that over the hole, are have it welded. If you can't weld I would get it tig welded so it will be nice looking as well. Then all you need to do is put it in and put your clamps you also bought on it. Your done pull out your tire quage and check it while its running. If it leaks through the clamps you will be able to feel it while putting your hand over it, check it at WOT. You can always glue it as well if you have too. This shouldn't cost you even $20 and you can check it anytime you want now. If pressure exceeds your tire guage get a tire guage at the truck stop for tracktor & trailers, they cost a few bucks though, but register up to 150 pounds. The line should stretch enough for you to get in in there. If the line isn't rubber then just ignore most of what I said and get a piece the same size and weld it on, are even better drill that hole and weld it into the existing pipe. I hope this helps.

I don't know if you can just buy something already made to fit are not, this is just what I would do, then take the other 100 plus and buy something usefull like a K&N filter, :]
