Does it really matter how the damn car got stolen, the fact is IT DID GET STOLEN.

If you really need to know... I was rafting near down the river with some friends, we parked one car at the end of the river where we would be getting out, and one car (my car) at the start where we were getting into the river.

They're good at hotwiring.

hey dreamlike1, I know you are frustrated that your car got stolen but I was only asking constructive questions so our cars won't get stolen like yours, As my last post, I never said one thing that I was rubbing it in.

I didnt want to get my keys wet / possibly lose them in the water so I put them in my center consol out of sight. I then hid the electronic door lock/unlock somewhere else. They just smashed in my window and found the key.

Yes I know, stupid *** move puting the keys inside the car. Lesson learned the hard way, no need to rub it in

man that's such bad luck, it's something i would have done as well if i were in the same situation.. never would have known or else you would have hidden the keys a little better. hope the thief crashes and dies in your car so then u can get a brand new one.

I would sure like a new MR, but sadly I dont think thats in the cards. Im pretty sure Allstate will only give me low blue book for the car which off the top of my head I guess is around 25-28k (car has 13,000 miles). Still owe $15,000 on the MR that was stolen, so that leaves me with a sad 10-13k for a new car... Hello used honda civic

Yes everyone you NEED to get an alarm installed.

A lot of people think they dont help, but in this scenario it really would have. Im sure what happened was the theif broke my window in, and then just stood next to the car like it was his. As soon as people were out of site he went in and drove off. An alarm would have at least made noise, and attracted people's attention toward the car for a second before he found the key. He might have just run off if it had an alarm.

Again, another lesson learned

One thing you have going for you is that it was an Evo - they are a limited production, high performance car. The insurance company uses "market value" when determining the actual cash value of your car. They never use Blue Book values. Normally they will look in your area for other 05 MR's being sold with similar options and miles and base your car's value off of that. Because there just aren't many Evo's for sale, they may need to expand their search. Ultimately if you tell them there weren't many miles, their end value will probably be close to what you paid. This means you still might be able to get another Evo if you can find one for a good price.

Good luck!

Oh, and you may have to wait 30 days before you see a check (minus your deductible of course). They'll want to see if it's recovered before sending you the money.

I am sorry but don't some of you guys read what people post?

He left his keys in the center column (asking if it has a immobilzer? what read the thread again?)

He was down river.. (a alarm woulda helped how?) Even if he did have a alarm im sure they woulda had plenty of time to disable before anybody noticed or played it off as a dead battery or something especially with keys in hand.

I am sorry this happened.. however you ever happen to wonder if possible was a inside job? somebody you knew?
