i have installed HKS 272 cams on my evo ...
The Car Runs Fine .. no Stallin issues or whatsoever .. lately i am beginin to hear this wierd sound ... i think it is maybe at the Glove Box ...
if i drive normally the sound is low .. and if i continue on the same gear and higher speed .. the sound just turns up louder ....
i am gonna recieve my Walbro in 2 weeks till it arrives .. and savin up to get a tunning Device ..

did you bleed the lifters?

 

i havnt installed it my self ..
i've let a shop install it ...

 

Is it your Transfercase? what is the noise? a tornado siren? clicking sounds (if so, it is a solenoid and normal) or what the other guys recommended. Did you get cam gears? my fidanza cam gears rubbed the cam cover.

 

Was it a Professional "shop"? or Uncle Cleatus' tranny shop?

yeah .. they are a proffesional shop .. they have installed cams on evos many Times ...
and yes it is like a Siren Noice ...
and no i havnt installed Cam Gears ..

 

I say NOT related to cams, I think your TC is going out. change that fluid, and see if it changes the pitch/noise. type in "tornado siren" or check out some of my threads (click on my avatar) I had mine go out 200 miles AFTER a clutch change. let us know.

Keep us posted. the thread I started has good input from various people who's TC went out, and they described the symptoms/sound.

btw the Car only has 7000KM on it .. dunno how many miles is that ..

 

Everyone suggests STOCK diaqueen fluid. At least my guy does. Jon at TRE. I had redline in mine when mine let go.

 

kinda sounds like the TC. when mine went out it would make this weird whining noise on the highway.

just like you described, if you were at low rpms it would be very low or even non existance, but as soon as you gave it gas and the rpm's climbed it would get louder in intensity.

just a question... have you been launching ur evo lately? mine started happening the day after I went to the track and launched it hard several times so i kinda knew what it was.
