For those with the lancer front windshield. Do you have a picture to post that show the subtle differences in the mirror location?

The 372 quote was the cheapest I got... it was through Safe Lite!

Ok, I know it's been a few days on this one but I thought I'd chime back in with some more info.

The EVO windshield Part# is MR991637
At Mitsubishiparts.com it's listed at $439.87 MSRP.

The price on the Lancer glass is $422.95 MSRP, a whopping $16.92 less than the Evo windshield.

The way you're going to save money is by buying Pilkington glass or that from another OE quality manufacturer. Currently the only manufacturer that produces windshields for Evos is Mitsubishi. If your insurance is paying for it why not just get the Mitsubishi glass??

Ok, so MR991637 is the OFFICIAL EVO windshield right? I'm just about to get mine replaced, and the guy at the parts counter didn't know anything. He gave me 3 different part numbers:

MR533951
MR991638
MR991637

The first two game up with "Green" and "Green,4.7" in the computer, so I'm guessing that those are the regular ones. He thought the 1637 was the Evo one though, but he wasn't sure... Oh, and his price was $466.80, don't think that included installation.

For those that have gotten it installed...did you usually have the dealership do it? Or if I called Empire Glass or something, do I just tell them the part # and they order it? Just not sure how I'd get this thing around if I had to pick the part up myself.

Regular Lancer windshield for $150 installed (already had tinted brow too)... when they found that my Evo rear view would not fit on the Lancer glass, the company bought me a regular Lancer rear view to snap right on the windshield. This glass has taken MUCH harder hits than what spidered my OE one. At that price point, I'm not complaining. Also, if anyone wants to *****about weights, you'd see more of a difference skipping a burger or two.

At first, I wanted the OEM windshield but I agree that the tradeoff for strength is acceptable since my Evo is a daily driver. I guess if it was a dedicated track car that would be a different story. Hope the lancer one fits perfectly...

I'm going through Safelite currently. They couldn't track down the Evo one via their normal means, so they had to order it from the dealership specially. Hopefully the got the right one... I personally like the Evo one because of the black dots around the rear view, and the position of the mirror itself vs. the regular lancer glass.

Please remember that all claims are put onto your CLUE report. Paying a low deductible today might cost you when you go with another insurance company, or have another small claim.

Next?

Going for $284 this Tuesbay via Safelite AutoGlass.

I would pay more if they had a tougher one for the front!
