Damn, the cost of insurance for my Evo went up 30%!
I just opened my 6-month policy binder from GEICO and the 6-month premium for my Evo jumped from:
$536.30 to $700.70 which is just over 30%
My Evo is driven for leisure and will see less than 4,500 miles annually.
I have had no accidents, no tickets, or anything that would personally increase my premium.
In fact I've only had one ticket since driving (over 10 years), and the ticket was for letting the time on a parking meter expire.
I just got off the phone with GEICO and they explained to me that every year vehicles are asessed for risk by an independent company using DMV info, accident info, repair costs, theft reports, etc. and vehicles are given a rating.
He told me that the Evo's rating went up, thus increasing the premium.
He added that all insurance companies use the aforementioned info to assess insurance premiums for vehicles and told me that various Toyotas and Nissans have seen increased premiums as well.
To borrow a Family Guy line: This really grinds my gears!
Anybody else have a similar increase in insurance?
BTW: I blame all those morons, age exclusive, that have smashed up their Evo's doing something stupid. It's evident by the number of stupid threads that start with..........I smashed up my Evo.

I've had USAA insurance for 35 years and my comprehensive loss went from 82.40 to 108.55 and my Collision Loss went from 185.53 to 224.06. Nothing went up on the Saturn my son drives or the Mustang that my wife drives. Again, Like you no tickets or anything, must be some truth to the vehicle history.

yes, im sure it is.... i have usaa as well, havent checked my premium but i guess i should.... to the guy who uses his car for leisure, for some reason when i changed my usaa policy to say i use it to drive back and forth to work and not just the weekends for leisure, my rate was lower... should ask them about that. or get away from geico. i got their free quote and it was over 100 more then my usaa premium
my policy gets renewed next month. i just checked and price did not go up. thank God~ i have Geico here also. any other geico members want to double check?

Actually, GEICO has always given me the best rates compared to the other insurance companies.
I get a decent discount from GEICO since I work for a government/state agency.
Not many people know but GEICO's an acronym for Government Employees Insurcance Company.

My Geico expires next month too and it didn't go up either. An Odyssey and a IX for $800/6 months. Ouch, but not too bad I suppose.
My advice is to shop around a bit more. Esurance does everything on-line and was even cheaper than Geico for me, but they suck from a customer service stand point - ie: everything is done on-line.

I'd be paying annually for the Evo close to what you pay for two cars
Time to raise my deductible.
Maybe it's NJ thing.
Curious what other NJ Evo owners have to say about this?

I assume that your're talking about insuring your Evo and not your Titan?
I didn't know insurance was so high in North Carolina.
I think that the automobile insurance market, and any insurance market (home, life, or health) is a complete joke.
