IX rev limiter?

I did a search and it seems to be 7.5k rpms or around that number but last night my car went to 8k when I down shifted. I down shifted at third around 55-60mph hoping I would shift into 4th around 80+. I got locked out of 4th for a second so I accidently revved to 8k. Is it like this with all stock IX's?

I'm stock with only a drop in filter.

no nessecarialy once in a while it may spike; it may be due to your clutching and shifting wait; you should get it flashed to take of the limiter

The rev limiter is 7606rpm, but if you downshift into a lower gear at high speed, it will overrev the engine no matter what the rev limiter is. It's just basic mechanics - the rev limiter can't keep the engine from spinning a certain speed if you force it into a lower gear.

I swear I left some room when I downshifted but I guess too much gas and the instant change of force made me shoot pass the limiter faster than I anticipated (I also need to shift better)

Ahh ok thanks. My newbie *** learned something...

That's right just like if you shift into 2nd at 80MPH you can rev your motor well past 11,000RPMs. Try this one at home kiddies.

I've done it a few times on the road course and drag strip - luckily, nothing was damaged.

it takes time to learn the downshifting mechanics to really master and get the most out of your shifting

Lol don't do it!

But anyways I downshifted from 4th (or maybe 5th I forgot) to third around 55-60 mph. Tried to get a little kick then shift out of 3rd to 4th at around 8o mph. I failed miserbly.

to really get a kick you should try from 5th to 4th; you will probably get the most kick out of those gears; try to get 5th gear up to between 4,200 and 5,200 and downshift youll be like a rocket down the highway; thats to me tho

Yea I gotta try that. I'm new to manual and "agressive" driving. I usually downshift to 4th at 3.5k - 4k from 5th gear. I thought this car had no ***** on the highway but found it was me.....

I try to be careful but at the sametime I like to learn my car and explore it a bit. I need a beater car to practice on I hate when I fudge up on my evo but I do try to learn from my mistakes

I have't tried launching yet. That'll probably be the last thing I'll try to learn...
