New Evo VIII here
Hello, I am the proud owner of a new 2003 Apex Silver Evolution VIII. Thanks to everyone at this message board, I have been cruising the threads and found a ton of useful info.
My car:
Apex Silver
Tall wing
Rear strut brace
Air brake ducts
Guage pack
Grounding wire kit
Wheel locks
Carbon brake handle
Scuff plates
I had my eye on the STi for a long time. All the official numbers are out and I based my decision on the following:
-Looks. I simply like the EVO better in the looks department (inside and out, but I do admit the instrument cluster is plain).
-Performance. No doubt the STi should and most likely will beat the EVO in straight line performance. Realistic numbers such as 4.5-4.9 0-60 and (equal to, or under) 13 second 1/4 mile are not so far off from what the Evo is capable of. Either way, both cars are quick. Both cars are fun.
Early reports indicate the Evo and STi are both similar and very different at the same time. The gist of it, even though the US STi is not yet publically out and about, EVO>STi when it comes to handling, precision and road feel. I like that.
And after approx 100 miles of driving... I feel I have made the right choice.
