Clifford and Viper alarms are pretty good. They have lots of models to suite different needs. The Clifford Matrix RS3 has all the remote start feature and a 2-way pager that shows the alarm status of your car. You can also check out CodeAlarm, those are not bad either.

I found it much cheaper to get it done at a alarm shop then at a big electronic retail store, plus the people there seem to know more about which alarm is good.

I have the Prestige two way remote intalled in my car with the remote start feature. It works fantastic! It also kind of mimics as a Turbo timer since you can reverse the sequence and have your car keep running for a while before shutting down. Hope this helps.

That really depends on your alarm installer. My installer told me that they don't splice wires, so it won't void the factory warranty. Make sure you ask your installer before hand.

Some clifford alarm has turbo timer option, you should check their website to find out more. http://www.clifford.com/

I had a dei hornet 554t installed on mine.. DEI is the company that makes clifford, viper, hornet and other alarm brands.. simply look in your phone book for car alarm shops. make sure it doesnt look sketchy, and the employees seem mature and proffesional. You DONT want some high school kid working part time at best buy or circuit city installing it. Since the evo is stick shift, most proffesional installers will not install remote start on it all the way due to liability, so I had mine hook up all the wiring and leave the ground wire for the neutral safety switch unconnected, then i made my own safet switch and wired up the last wire (just a ground, not difficult at all..
Now my alarm works great, it has remote start and turbo timer mode, and other nice features.. just about any 2 way alarm that you can get will have the option for those "cool"features such as opening windows, trunk, etc. it's simply a signal that the alarm can send out either as momentary or steady (as long as you hold button). they just simply hook up this signal to the window switch, or the trunk latch, etc. just go tell the alarm shop what you want.. for a good dei system installed, expect to pay no less than $500, and with clifford type, with all those extra features, you'd be looking at $700-$800 total.

go to www.directed.com to see the dei alarms offered.

let me know if you have any other questions.

I just got my black evo. Looking for an alarm system as well. Where did you get your Prestige? Would you recommend the shop? Do you know any other good shops in NYC area?

The shop is in New Rochelle. The shop owner knows his stuff. I will definitely recommend his services. PM me if you need some details.
