Evo Tech Data Questions
Anyone know what the following are for the EVO VIII?
1) Weight (including spare tire, etc. and approx. 1/2 tank of gas)?
2) Drive Axle Ratio
3) gear ratios: 1,2,3,4 and 5
4) drag coefficient (with big wing)
5) frontal area (too lazy to work it out). If no one knows, what is the height and width of the car?

Remember the evo is wind tunnel tested.
Evo VIII Evo VII
Cd 0.36 0.37
CLf 0.06 0.09
CLr 0.01 0.06
CLf is coeff of lift for the front.
CLr is coeff of lift for the rear.
So the evo 8 is more aerodynamic and more down force with the rear wing. Those were JDM Evo spec from best motoring video.
A lower Cd does not mean it's safer at higher speeds if the car decides to take off.

Cool odie site but if i could read japanese that'd be helpful. The evo's Aerodynamics seem to be very well thought out even if the Cd is on the high side. Oh well. price to pay for a front mount intercooler

3298 (with sunroof)
.... how much does a tank of gas weigh?

Final Drive Ratio 4.529
3) gear ratios: 1,2,3,4 and 5
1st 2.928 (triple)
2nd 1.950 (triple)
3rd 1.407 (double)
4th 1.031 (single)
5th 0.720 (single)
Reverse 3.416 (double)
4) drag coefficient (with big wing)
0.36
5) frontal area:
(height-ground clearance) x width
(1.45m - 0.14m) x 1.77m
= 2.318 m^2
