My 2003 EVO 8 was sticking on the top end after hard pulls. I ended up having to buy a new throttle body to fix it. It was fairly expensive ( like $700 ). All set now tho.

yes mine dose this too and i have al's base flash. it is only if im getting on it a little bit but not when im going all out. sometimes it holds RPMs for 2-3 sec to get back to idle and sometimes it reves up 1k-2k more after getting off the gas and clutch all the way in. when it reves more it takes about 4-6 sec to get back to idle.

im glad that im not the only one that is having this happen i was starting to get worried.

My 100% stock Evo does this (not for even close to 15 secs though). I was always under the impression that it was the stock lightweight flywheel just trying to catch up. It would only happen when I would floor it and then put in the clutch when I was beginning to slow down.

Try checking the throtle cable. Have a friend step on the gas (engine off) while you inspect the cable when it retracts back and see if there's any signs of drag or resistance. My car has been flashed many times and never had that issue so I can't believe it would be an ECU thing or maybe I'm just lucky.

I just had this start happening to me and it started to occur after I disconnected my battery to do some work on the car. It's happened ~4 times now. The situation is having the car near floored in 2nd or 3rd up to about 4k-5k rpms, then popping the car into neutral because I'm coming to a stop. The rpms would hang there at 4k for ~3 seconds then slowly come down. I tried blipping it a few times and that seemed to cause it to come down sooner.

Glad to hear its normal! Completely stock 05 by the way.

Maybe a little intake leak.... Sounds like you could have possible developed a leak.

TB shaft might need seals replaced. Do a leak test...simple, easy way to eliminate that possible problem....which never happens on evo's right...Check it out.

True, also some of you guys are relocating the throttle cable, and if done incorrectly can cause this problem, but at idle.

This is happening in the 3-4,000 rpm range while decelerating...right.

The factory clutch/flywheel can cause this because of the rotational weight. I had this on my 2005 MR and 2005 GSR.

When I went to the WORKS lightweight aluminum flywheel it went away and the RPM would drop normally after WOT pulls.

Chalk it up to the factory flywheel/weight.

This did not happen on my 03. However it happens all the time on the 05. I do not think it has to do with the mods as they are the same.

Not really. I have had the same problem. I am ecuflashed and thought that that had something to do with it but im still trying to find a soultion. 15secs is not exagurated.
