totally with you here, the evo is my 11th car(evo is second brand new), But i think im holding onto it for a long time. I have had cars that were more well equipped in the past such as an R32 and an M3. But i can honestly say i enjoy the "rawness" of the evo very much. The evo doesnt have all the stupid shi* that will eventually just give you a headache further down the road. Besides... I have lost way to much money buying and selling cars (dont take that as i expected to make money buying and selling).

M3 V-8 is going to be $60k+ base

335i is $36k base

I dont think the v-8 in the new m3 is going to be all that great for some reason.

335i > M3 v8. Plus the 335i will get over 30mpg.

I think BMW made an oopps putting so much power, or is it small margin between the 335i and the new M3. Yea I know the new m3 hasnt hit ground yet,,, this is just my prediction 1.5 yrs out.

you never know, the evo could be the next big seller on the Barrett-Jackson auctions in 40-50-60 years.

I'll be keeping mine. There will be a number of aftermarket inovations to come in the future that will keep my Evo going for years and years.

I plan on keeping mine for a long time. Being that this is my second car, first being a 1988 Mustang 5.0, I don't want to end up loosing all my money buying a new car every 6 months-1 year. I think I will keep it as my daily driver for quite some time either until I'm done with school, or til I'm financially stable and able to afford another nice daily driver, such an a M3 or S4. But as someone else mentioned, once the motor gives, time for a stroker . I have always wanted an evo, and finally got one, so right now I really don't care about the whole market value of them. lol. It's such a fun car, I love how it drives, rides, and gets semidecent gas mileage! But at the rate that they're being totaled, there won't be many left in the near future. I think they might be the next hot cars at Barrett Jackson in 20-30 years from now. just my $.02

I think that's possible, especially when it comes to a low volume model like the RS. The prized cars will most likely be low mileage, prime condition, and unmolested ( ie. not moddded).

i think i am one of the few that bought the extra bumper to bumper warranty (full 10 years) and free lifetime oil changes, and i got 0% financing for 60 months. I think financially it makes sense for me to keep the car till the warranty expires and then have several options depending on it's condition: trade it in or crazy mod it. The good thing is that the warranty and the service are transferable so i could sell the car for a good price to a nyc area individual if i wanted to buy an EVO X during it's second or third year of production. It only makes financial sense to keep for the vehicle as long as possible to spread the cost of initial depreciation and taxes over the life of the vehicle.

I love the way the car looks, so aggressive even in its stock form. It handled like nothing else on the road in the snow with the winter tires. Priceless the look on people's faces. Turning 30 in a few weeks and seeing marriage in the near future, i think budget wise it is a smart thing to do considering the cost of living in nyc. yes the ride is harsh and i don't think it is safe enough for transporting babies around, so i will definitely see a safer family oriented car in the future for sure. definitely with all wheel drive and high side impact crash testing results. once a future house is paid off then i can think about getting another play car.

Well, I've had it for 3 years and 132,000 miles and I still love it so I guess it's a keeper! My plan it to pay it off, buy another daily driver, then strip it down to a track car. I live only 15 minutes from Summit Point Raceway in WV.

I'll be keeping mine for as long as I can. Once I get it to about 350-400whp I think I'll be happy with it as the ultimate daily driver. Although I do plan on buying a C6 Z06 in about a year or so when the 650hp Blue Devil/Stingray is released. By that time the prices should be way down on the Z. Evo as the daily driver, Z06 as the weekend *****, I think that will keep me satisfied.

you think 100 horsepower is a small margin separating two automobiles. a 33% increase in power from one vehicle to another seems like a lot to me. I know you are factoring in the price of the vehicles but the 335i coupe nice equiped will easily be in the high 40K area. the current 330i coupe bases for $37600 on the bmw website.
