i've always heard this (followed it too) about not putting it into first gear while driving, or slowing down or whatever the case, but i've never understood why? what's the reason for this?

I have no idea where other flashes hit the rev limiter. Vishnu sets it at 7800.
This is on a 5 speed trany I must add.

Mr. IX, you aren't all the way through 4th when you finish the 1/4. You're just a little past 7k. If you were on the rev limiter (7600), you'd be trapping 110+.

Btw, so people don't get confused, you can't relate MPH at a certain RPM with trap speeds, because trap speeds are an average speed between 2 sensors at the end, which means you will hit a max trap speed that is LOWER than the max MPH at a given rpm.

100% correct. The track timing system has two sensors that are 66 feet apart. It calculates your AVERAGE speed over that last 66 feet based on the amount of time it takes the car to get from the first sensor to the second sensor.

I am running out 4th gear to just past 8,000 RPM (130 mph terminal speed) that gives me a trap speed of almost 124 mph. I have three choices at this point. I need to either raise my rev limit by getting a built motor, start shifting into 5th gear, or get a different gearing for the transmission (final drive change, or JDM spec 4th and 5th gear).

Get a lower final drive or spin the motor to very high rpm(8.8k).

Not to be a dick, but did you even read what you quoted? Let me help you out here.

Perhaps the part you quoted means I already understand that a rev limit change or final drive change would help me out.....

Mine too.

When R&T tested the car they had 114. That's the same as what Noize posted (113.6).

My speedo matches R&T's numbers in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, but not 4th gear.

The speedometer is not accurate, especially above 100mph.

exactly. it will go into gear. try auto-xing w/o getting into first gear on some courses. your times will suck if you lag it in 2nd
