ESCORT Passport 8500 X50

Ok so i have this radar detector and i was working just fine in my audi. now ever since i got my evo i get hit with laser and all kinds of radar. but the only problem this happens to me where there are no cops. it will go off when i start the car, when im in parking garage and even my garage. so i know there is no way there is a cop by. is there something with the evo that my passport will pick up and call radar or a laser?

call up escort, it's a problem that they can fix, something goes wrong with circuitry.

its the car itself for some reason it does it from time to time.... it never happens in my other cars...myself and my parents have the x50's and i swapped mine with my dads...and his started doing it in my car and mine didnt do it in his car.... so something about the windshield...i think the angle or something cause of the windshield... i taped it to the dash and it didnt do it...

i just disabled the laser on the radar.... sad to say cause i love it so much..but i dont hear about valentine 1's doing this in our cars..so i might make the switch when my sister gets her license in 2 months and give her mine since she's getting an audi.

and i know im gonna get a **** load of comments how great the valentine is and how superior it is over the escort.... i had the valentine be4 and i wasnt to thrilled with it... i perfer the escort..

i hope this helped a little

cheers!

I have mine hardwired just to the right of the rear view mirrow, and it works great. No problems with it, just successful saves!

+1. Search for the hardwire procedure. I figured it out myself with a multimeter and it keeps the voltage pretty constant and strong.... maybe a couple of volts higher than 12v but I've had no problems with it. Plus, it turns on automatically when I open the door and turns off automatically after the car has been off for more than ~10 minutes.

Do it, do it. Jack and coke... do it.

i have mine hard wired to the windshield wipers and threw a higher # fuse in there...it holds a consistent 13.1-13.2.5.... never dips below or above... i hooked up a reader for 3 hours to watch it and it was fine.. so i dont think thats it... do u have it in the tinted part of the windshield?
