hey quick question to all the Evo owners - does the stock CD player play CD-Rs (not MP3s, just burned CDs)

Liandrin11 - Have you not seen your stock head unit? It looks like the first ever CD player in terms of cosmetics

Diesel - The radio uses the standard Mitsu 95-up harness. Metra part number is 70-7001.

not really... it's actually kinda lame...

not that i was expecting a great stereo, cause of the nature of the beast, but i guess i was just spoiled by the 210watt Infinity system from the Galant...

has anyone done aftermarket component installs in the front doors? I ask because I am planning on doing Boston components and I want to make sure they fit.

I added a 10" infinity sub. I am using the stock stereo and speakers....sounds 10 times better now than it did without the sub. I built my own speaker level to line level convertor out of some resistors. Sounds great NO COMPLAINTS HERE! This is mainly what most factory stereo systems lack is low end...the deep low end that is...that gives the sounds the shape you want it to have. I figured that since there are components up front I'd just utilize those instead of messing with taking the doors and everything else apart.....cause once you take things apart thats when rattles really start to become noticable. Just my 2 cents.

not if done properly. one of my good buddies is an absolute wizard with car audio installs. he had an E36 M3 that was something to behold... his planned install for his Z06 is just mind-blowing... when we do our installs I will take lots of pics, it's going to be pretty cool I think.

But, I would prefer to know the max depth in the door w/o fabricating a pod - that is more pain the the *** then I am willing to go, I think anyway
