Read my post number #12. I have had almost all kind of engine and tranny failures on many cars. There are somethings that are loud as hell and could be misleading. You need to roll your car in neutral that would tell you where the sounds is coming from. Assume anything from broken transfer case, broken driveshaft, broken clutch asseembly, broken main center driveshaft, etc, etc.

My friend Steve twisted his rear axles on his Eagle talon 2 months ago, you can't never rule out any component

whats a center carrier bearing bracket?
it is a "bracket" which holds your driveshaft up under the car. you can look under your car, and use a light, and look if the bracket is broken. it is a round rubber bearing holding the driveshaft up. go check it. I have a problem with that now. AS WE SPEAK!! It was clanking at high rpm, and we looked at it, and the bracket was LOOSE. maybe yours is, or you just broke the clamp. simple fix.

You will find said "bracket" and bearing in the middle of the car, (between the front and rear doors)

sounds like its a spun bearing to me too.

TO check put the car in neutral and rev it up while your sitting still. If it still makes the noise then you more then likely spun a bearing... let us know.

Yeah, if it does the noise with the motor running, clutch in neutral, then its the motor. if you can't replicate the noise with the motor running, its NOT the motor. do what post #12 says first.

Here is a diagram of what it could be. different parts of the driveshaft. You have to go lay under your car, and pull down and push up on the driveshaft, and get it to reproduce the noise. you will hear the familiar "clanking" again, if this is in fact the problem.

Snapped some bolts off? in the #1 joint? if you got a camera, a photo would help us out.
