Jackass on my bumper / insurance related
So I go to get a hair cut, I park my car on the street, no cars in front of me (no parking zone), a black Civic behind, leaving enough room in between for him to get out without a problem.
I come back 45 minutes later, the Civic is gone and a Chevy Suburban parked behind me, …..let me rephrase this,….. Parked on my behind , so I move the car forward just enough for me get in between and see what kind of damage did this idiot do, sure enough, scratches where his plate met my bumper.
Scratches, may or may not puff out, but the fact that Suburban forced his way in just ticked me off., and the driver is no where to be found.
I call the police to make a report, as the cop almost done with the report, the guy shows up denying that he was even close to my bumper, then claiming that I backed into his car.
The next day, his insurance agent calls me saying that they’re not going to pay for it, because I backed into his car and he has a witness, and asking me all kinds of questions,
Before answering any questions, I asked his him, do you have the police report? He said No,
(me) Neither do I, but I do have an estimate and I will not answer any of your questions until I get the police report.\
Few days later I get the police report and in it says:
Car # 1 (me) parked, car # 2 (him) struck car # 1 in the rear causing minor scratches
Keyword: Struck
I fax his insurance Co. both the report and estimate, and I got the check 2 days later, no ifs, ands, or buts.
Lessons learned,
1. The wording of police reports are very important.
2. EVO’s OEM bumper is not cheap.
3. JDM bumper?? …….!!! (Scratching head) ….!!

Nice one and congrats! You handled it the right way. Car insurance people are the scum of the earth IMHO. They can never be taken at their word and will inevitably do whatever possible to make the process as painfull and as stressfull as possible in hopes you'll throw your arms up in the air and walk away from the process.
damn that sucks to have your car damaged.. but you really were smart about handling the situation properly. It is really important to have an accurate police report because people will make up all kinds of stories to try and absolve themselves from blame. Insurance people are scum sure, but the truth is the average person is also scum.

Thanks guys, I just did some searching about JDM bumpers,
I don’t like the idea of removing/trimming the rear crash bar, I also don’t like the idea of less than perfect JDM bumpers fitment.
