Uncle screwed up my car!!
I just got a act clutch and fly wheel installed. I'm really not all that confident of my uncles work, but hey it saves a few hundred in labor easily. Anyways. I got new summer tires too "kumo mxs". My uncle took it to another shop to have the tires put on. They also did the alignment which I don't told them not to, because the alignment was fine when I drove it up. Anyways. Everything is installed and get my car back. Clutch feels great, shifts fine. But my steering wheel is wierd as hell. As I turn it when parked the pressure fluctuates from light to hard. It's not consistent. One minute its really light and the next its hard. When I'm driving, I could just be paranoid, but my evo doesn't feel stable on high speed turns anymore. Even more so when I go over a bump I get this really unstable feeling. I checked the power steering fluid, and for some reason it was low. Filled it back up, and it's still the same. What could this be? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
maybe the alignment shop left something loose, you need to find out if they did front and rear or just front alignment, and i would take the car back to them to check out there work is unsafe if you front end feel's loose.
when you turn it one direction does it fluctuate or is it just left is tight and right is loose feeling?
your higher speed stability is the alignment for sure...id have a alignment done at a reputable place, check your local forum for places that have done evo's.

Hey bro.. It's either left or right. When I generally turn the steering wheel, the pressure isn't smooth. It'll be a real light effort to turn, and then suddently pressure increases and its hard. It's soooo wierd. My car was FINE before the clutch job, and alignment. Now i dunno which is which
Sounds like the power steering needs to be bled. He may have pulled out the cross member that hold the streeing rack to gain better access to the tranny. He would have had to disconnect the rack to do this which would allow air in the system and explain the low fluid in the resevoir. Ask him if this is what he did. Should be easy to fix if that's it.

try hitting full lock on the steering wheel at idle in your driveway a few times, go left to right say 8 times. dont hold it at full lock, just hit the stop for a second then cycle the wheel to the other side. secure your engine, let it sit for a minute or two. check your power steering fluid, add some if you need to. go for a test drive.
