Warrtalon package installation ?'s

I should be receiving the parts from Buschur tomorrow, and hopefully my ECU back from Dynoflash pretty soon. I have a couple of questions before everything gets here.

First, will this how-to work for IX's as well?? I have the turbo back exhaust, with the test pipe and Magnaflow muffler coming.
http://www.jonesland.com/evo/Buschur_Install.htm

Also, if anyone has installed the TBE, was it pretty straight forward??

I have also found several Walbro how-to's, so that will probably be the first thing that goes on when I get my ECU back.

Will it be ok for me to drive my car about 10 miles or so without the new exhaust on with the ECU flashed?? I won't be driving it hard, I just want to make sure it will drive well enough to make it to the shop I will be doing the work at.

I will be doing the exhaust and MBC at the Hobby shop on base, so whatever tools I don't have, they DEFINITELY have.

Any info or bits of advice I would definitely appreciate. I'm pretty good with working on cars, and my brother (who will be helping me) has done engine swaps and the like with little-to-no problems. I just want to make sure that I am prepared before starting something!!

I've done exhausts on a couple 9's and it was as straight foward as you can imagine, just like the 8

As far as driving ith stock exhaust and ECU reflash, you should be fine, it's only gonna run a little more lean iwould assume...Just don't beat on her

Installing the TBE is straightforward, yes. It doesn't require any instructions, but it comes with instructions anyway.

Use the Walbro install write-up at Evomoto - it's great.

Yes, you can drive with the flashed ECU and no exhaust for 10 miles. You could probably drive it forever, since the exhaust doesn't affect the tune a lot. However, to be safe, just stay out of boost until you get the exhaust on - the tune only affects open loop, which is during high throttle.

This is all simple stuff. You don't need advice or tips. Thousands upon thousands of wannabe mechanics have done these mods on Evos with no problem, and that includes me, haha. I'm a terrible mechanic, but I installed everything you mentioned here.

O yeah, I forgot to ask about the MBC that comes with the package.

I had an SRT-4 before my evo and I upgraded the WGA. I held a much higher constant boost without any need of a boost controller.

My question is, what am I shooting for with the MBC?? Is it used to primarily hold the boost higher than it's supposed to taper too?? Or does it just turn the boost up a little bit so it spikes higher and tapers to a higher position?? If the later is the case, what psi am I shooting for 23lbs??

It is both for raising your boost and eliminating a lot of the stock taper. Shoot for 22-23psi on 93oct, and that's a MAXIMUM SPIKE of 23psi in 3rd gear, not the point at which it holds after the spike.

Btw, I spent 4 years in Actionville at 2d RadBn. I owned Coastal Plains Dragway with my AWD Turbo-4 craziness, haha (DSM).

My fiance` was with Supply (medically discharged) and my sister-in-law is down at H1 with the lucky job of Admin.

Yeah, I can't stand this friggin town. Thier is nothing to do here, especially since I don't drink or go to strip clubs!! If I need a tattoo or my hair cut, their are plenty of places for that though!!

So you owned Coastal Plains?? I don't know if it's just a slow track or if everyone just sucks, but a lot of people have trouble getting really good numbers at that track.

One day I ran a 13.8 @97 with a 1.8 60ft. I made an immediate pass right afterwards and ran a 13.8 @102 with another 1.8 60ft. Am I wrong, or does that sound weird to have that kind of difference in trap speed with the same ET?? I know I ran the second pass faster, but the times stated otherwise. My friend ran an 11 flat with his bonestock GTO. That was pretty funny to see!!

The parts came in today, so my bro and I will be putting the exhaust and MBC in tomorrow. Then the ECU should be back Thursday so the fuel pump will go in after that. It all looks pretty easy. I ordered the Stewart Warner gauges, which look like they are going to be kind of a PITA to put in.

Yes, the Drift Wood is up and running as always. I don't think that place will ever go under.

I had no problems running, but that was 6-7 years ago. When I started, they only ran 1000', but the very next year it went to full 1/4. I ran many a 1.6 60' and many mid then low 12s, but I also busted my tranny at the line on one of my 6k dump launches, hah.

I won my first ever bracket race there on a Saturday night and couldn't believe they actually gave me $200. I was just there to get good times but ended up in a bracket race beating some automatic Chevy Corsica for the win. I can only guess he screwed up...
