AAA FTW, it's really hard on the rear diff to run with the spare tire on, therefor I would just call AAA and get it towed to a tire shop to have a new tire put on. I don't think it affects the tcase because the spare tire will not fit over the brembos on the evo. If you get a flat tire in the front you have to move a rear tire and put it on the front and put the spare on the rear

I think the only way to do it and not mess anything up is to have the same size tires on both rears and both fronts.
I remember reading in the manual that the spare tire will not fit over the brembos on the front of the car. So they ask you to move a good rear tire to the front and place the spare on the rear. They might of redesigned the spare for the IX but i doubt it.
You guys are nuts for removing your spare on a daily driver. When you’re out cruising do you also kick your passengers out each time you race someone?
The cool thing about the EVO is that it is a practical, four cylinder, four door, normal looking sedan that can blow the doors off of most other cars.
Towing is always an option, but what if it takes two hours for the truck, they don't send a flatbed, and the only tire place nearby is run by bubba and his crow bar yielding tire changer.
Having the spare is nice insurance for when you want to limp home to make better decisions about your ride.

I daily drive my Evo, so the spare tire will always be there for me when I get a flat tire.
Spare is the same diameter as the others. Also, you CAN drive on it for a small amount of time w/out doing damage to the car. That's why they say to only drive 30mi.
Driving home to MASS from the DSM shootout in Ohio, I was traveling with like 4 other cars and 2 people pulling trailers. One of the trailers got a flat and not one of them had a spare tire! (except for me.
) I couldn't believe that these guys would do a 1400 mi trip and not take a spare...
Lessons learned:
a. Always have a spare.
b. The donut from an Evo will fit a trailer.
