The added weight of the runflats is probably close to the weight of the spare and in a much worse place. Runflats are HEAVY!

I don't think it affects the tcase because the spare tire will not fit over the brembos on the evo. If you get a flat tire in the front you have to move a rear tire and put it on the front and put the spare on the rear
huh, im pretty sure I have seen an evo with the dount on the front, my friend had a black 'o4 and he caught a nail in the sidewall off the front, we went to a shop and the owner told us it messes up the T-case then. I think the only way to do it and not mess anything up is to have the same size tires on both rears and both fronts.

That is why the spare is the same diameter as the other tires.

I remember reading in the manual that the spare tire will not fit over the brembos on the front of the car. So they ask you to move a good rear tire to the front and place the spare on the rear. They might of redesigned the spare for the IX but i doubt it.

You guys are nuts for removing your spare on a daily driver. When you’re out cruising do you also kick your passengers out each time you race someone?

The cool thing about the EVO is that it is a practical, four cylinder, four door, normal looking sedan that can blow the doors off of most other cars.

Towing is always an option, but what if it takes two hours for the truck, they don't send a flatbed, and the only tire place nearby is run by bubba and his crow bar yielding tire changer.

Having the spare is nice insurance for when you want to limp home to make better decisions about your ride.

Mine has just a spare in it, I have methanol pump and nitrous tank exposed and also plan to have coilovers this spring where I will need to adjust them...

this is not true, i was in a minor accident and the other car hit my front driver side fender, wheel, headlight, cross member, blah blah blah, and my wheel broke in half due to the impact and the towing company had to put my spare on to get it up the flat bed. its fits!

That's what I had to do when I had this little incident happen to me.

I daily drive my Evo, so the spare tire will always be there for me when I get a flat tire.

Spare is the same diameter as the others. Also, you CAN drive on it for a small amount of time w/out doing damage to the car. That's why they say to only drive 30mi.
Driving home to MASS from the DSM shootout in Ohio, I was traveling with like 4 other cars and 2 people pulling trailers. One of the trailers got a flat and not one of them had a spare tire! (except for me. ) I couldn't believe that these guys would do a 1400 mi trip and not take a spare...
Lessons learned:
a. Always have a spare.
b. The donut from an Evo will fit a trailer.
