When you start modifying the car, thats when the differences become much more apparent. You'll need cams in an Evo8 to keep up with a bolt on Evo9 (TBE, MBC, Flash).

You're the one typing in CAPS and exclamation marks about how you're evo didn't trap what you read in a magazine.

because you can't drive. Lower the 60 ft and you'll see more mph.

To the OP - The 05s and 06s are faster and respond much better to basic bolt-ons, in spite of what our "friend" 11secevo wrote. There are good drivers running 11s in the 05s and 06s with an exhaust, mbc and custom flash. My 03 with similar mods maxed out at 12.4 and 110 on C16.

I had an 05 VIII GSR and now have a 06 IX GSR.

Pros
-Mivec
-Better turbo
-better head design allows more aggresive tuing
-new seats (same shape, just better color pattern)
-new rims look better and weight less
-better looking front facisa

Cons
-carbon fiber wing on the IX is hollow and the end plates are not carbon fiber (dont know if the new wing is lighter, but I bet its not as strong as the VIII wing)

The IX responds a lot better to mod (as you already mentioned).
The IX has better low-end response and is better for daily driving.

evolrobert,
MIVEC- First MIVEC is nothing like Vtec. Vtec has duel cam lobes which was basiclly like changing between regular and race cams. MIVEC works like the "I" in I-Vtec. What it basiclly is is an electronicly adjustable intake cam gear which can change timing based on conditions, tuning, etc. It optimizes low end torque. It makes the turbo spool faster then w/o it. These more, but I let you search and learn youself.

DON'T NOT LISTEN TO THIS GUY.

He has no idea what his is talking bout. The IXs trap more then a VIII and usually with a faster E.T.

My stock 05 VIII traped 99 & 100. My stock IX traped 103.

11SECEVO, if you had a VIII, you probably would have run bout a 14.x @ 96-98 MPH, based on what you ran with a IX.

from what testimonies I've read it seems thst the 9 is better than the 8 mod for mod, saying that the same mods on a 9 will make it quicker than an 8 with the same mods. I was kind of worried about the 9 b/c it's the initial year of MIVEC in the 4g. I know in hondas they've been using VTEC since the 80's and worked all the bugs out. This might be a stupid question but, is there any audibile change when the MIVEC is engaged, a la VTEC?

^^
No you CANT hear it like VTEC. Because it doesnt change cam lobes.

The most noticable thing bout MIVEc is the faser turbo spool & better low end power.
