ECU reflash??
05-06 they can huh? What makes these different than the earlier models. Is the ECU located in the passenger side kick panel? Perhaps I should try and find a buddy in the area with an unflashed ECU, and trade while the car is at the dealership??
Not really sure, once they see the car has been modded like that, Im sure they put it on a black ball list keeping you from having any warranty service ever honored in the future, no?

Do what I did, find an ECU from a parted our Evo. You can find them online cheap, mine was only $40 w/ shipping. It's good to have one from the same year and just swap it in when you take it in for service. That or get a piggy back ECU like Unichip you can just unplug

look in the ECUFlash section of the engine management section of this forum, it's a whole section dedicated to this cable and how to use it. search for tutorial in it for a good overview. also, a few tuners sell base maps for your mods for as little as $50 and there's no downtime, you order, they email you the map and you flash it on your car, easy!

WHY are folks paying $400-$500 to get flashed from the big two here on the board???
Its simple really. You can buy the tactrix cable from this website: http://www.tactrix.com/product_info....c2dcf5d59c96d2
download the program to read/write your ecu rom here:
http://www.openecu.org/index.php?title=Downloads
At this point you can download your ecu's stock rom into your computer and you can adjust the fuel maps, boost, rpm limits, top speed. But I wouldnt recommend it if you have no experience with tuning ecu's
But you can spend $50 and buy a E-flash from Jestr tuning, TTP. Dynoflash eflash is $85
The next step would be to buy a copy of evoscan which is a data logger software that lets you see knock activity, air/fuel ratios, and other info. This isn't really neccesary tho, but good to have if you do your own tuning or not sure if your tune is very safe.
Edit: didn't know the price of dynoflash eflash changed...opps
