Changing the evo seats

I am in the market for an evo. What i really would like is the ssl package because of the power sunroof, HIDS, and leather. Ive noticed a 2004 with this package i can get for about 24-25k. An 03 already comes with hids as well as the power sunroof and i can get that for about 20-21k.

Is their any reason as to why i wouldnt want an 03? Is it worth the extra for an 04 or maybe 05?

Mainly what i would like is the leather seats. If i do end up with an 03 am i able to replace the 03 seats with the leather seats so it would just look like i have the ssl package on an 03? Would it be very expensive to buy the seats? i assume it wouldnt be too bad if i sold my seats as well.

Thanks in advance for all the help.

if you can swing it an 05 would be the way to go. it has the acd, and less issues with the transfer case.

the leather seats are going to be relatively exspensive, but you can always keep an eye on the part out and for sale sections here for a good deal.

one thing to consider about the ssl package, i don't know if you plan on racing alot, but i have heard some tracks will not let you run with a sunroof.

oh i didn't say it's not worth it to get an 03 or 04. it's definitely worth it.

as for the seats, i don't see any reason they wouldn't fit. you may need to pickup the seat rails with them though. not sure about that.

Does anyone know if you can you buy the leather seat skins from Mitsubishi or Recaro? That should be cheaper than new seats.

The leather Recaros fit just fine in '03 Evo's, I have them in mine. As for transmission and transfer case woes, I think most cases are self inflicted by the driver. (flame suit on)
If you can find a low-mileage 03 or 04 for a decent price I'd take it. I could care less about the ACD or limited-slip front diff as I am not a road racer. If someone offered me a straight trade on a IX I'd turn it down. I love my 03 that much.
Good luck.
