So i decided that i didn't want to pay evo dave $140 + round trip shipping and be without my headlights for 10 days......... So i painted them myself......


Quick how to;

remove undertray
remove bumper

remove 4x 10mm bolts holding the headlights in.......

remove the 2 wiring harness plugs

Once you have the headlights out of the car you will need to heat them, i don't like using an oven so i used a heat gun available at any hardware store, heat the light at the seam where the clear meats the black....... once you have it very hot (don't melt the plastic) you can just pull it apart...... It will take some patience.

once apart remove the plastic peice from inside the clear lens............

Spray with platic prep/primer

spray your color

re assemble....

It's really that easy!

I see you painted over the "fogs" hahaha. I actually taped mine off and it kinda looks like there are fogs there.

 

They look good, I did mine myself also. But I went flat black, almost wish I would have done gloss now thow. I didnt bother to put the amber lense back on either.

 

i used semi gloss, i like it

Looks awesome. Guess I'll have a crack at doing this after winter. What type of adhesive/glue did you use to put it back together again?

 

did you sand it before you sprayed it with paint, or just used the primer spray? looks really good, I might have to do this soon.

i did not sand, just applied plastic primer.

reuse the factory sealant, and avoid leaks in the future!

 

we'll see when it rains hard.
