I used vice-grips and just be careful not to slip off the nut and bash up that aluminum honeycomb that smooths out the airflow to the MAF. Don't ask me how I know you need to be careful.

got the maf off finally, and yes the honey comb got a little bit ****ed up

now, removing the intake pipe from where it connects to the turbo ... impossible. the clamp that holds it on, the bolt is not facing me when i look down at it through the engine, instead, where it needs to unscrew is under the car, in a 100% inaccessable spot. was anyone elses like that? because i am TRYING to figure out a way to remove the plastic tube from the turbo, and it really seems like it just 'can't be done' i can not figure out a way to access the bolt ... i dont even think i can get to it from the top of the engine with a long extension and a swivvlehead... =[ wth! who does this!

take the undertray off and use a long screwdriver or socket with extention if there is no other way to get it from the top.

i dont think it will be able to work ... it seems like EVERYTHING is in the way, the unmovable parts of the car.... but... its worth a try. waiting on a friend to bring over his swivvleheads.

by the way, the head of the screw is not facing the ground, its sideways.... like

-----> like that, but from under the turbo.

You messed up your honeycomb? Ooops. The best way to get your maf off your air box is to use and air wrench. A real quick turn from the air tool will free them without f'in things up.

the honeycomb is not that bad... i bent a few fins, i might be able to fix them.. the thing that i am concerned with now is getting that pipe disconnected from the turbo. it is going to be a pain the way its on there. going to be very aggrivating i am sure, and lots of screaming but hey! after thats off, ill have completed the rest of it in like 10 minutes!

damn mitsus!!

I took off the rubber pipe the old fashion way. I cut through it and then it was easy to get to the top of the clamp to take off the rest.
