IX vs IX MR
imo there is only two choices: 1) if ur going to drive it daily, the ix. 2) if it is only for racing the rs. i drive mines daily so i needed the power windows, locks, ac, radio, etc. btw, if the se version was out when i bought mine, i might have thought about it. the mr is just too expensive for what u get.
I went with the IX SSL because the 5spd is faster in the 1/4 and stronger overall, MR didnt offer Sunroof or upgraded sound system, and MR was about $1-2000 more.
I guess its a matter of preference. I like a few creature comforts in my car. I love the sunroof and the sound system and subwoofer are fantastic once you replace the HU with a nice Alpine. I added a CF vortex generator myself and soon will be adding new coilovers. I wasn't overly concerned about the rims because I plan to replace them with some nicer 18s.

- I wasn't fond of the 6 speed gear box, personally - Why not? Did you drive one? It's much smoother than the 5spd, and it allows you to be in the powerband more often. There's only one reason to not like the 6spd, and I doubt you know what it is
** I personally didn't like the 6 speed, yes I drove one, I'm sure I would have got used to it, but I didn't like it, it's personal choice.
- The gauges I'd have upgraded anyway - There's only one gauge to upgrade in the package, and that's the boost gauge. The other two are still useful - mainly the oil temp
- I really couldn't tell the difference in ride height, and anyway the only difference is the shocks, which will need to be replaced some day anyway - You didn't notice a different in ride height, because that's not a different the MR has. The Bilsteins ar every nice, because they improve daily driving feel (less harsh) while also having superior handling. Why would you need to "replace some day anyway"? Do you mean like in 100000 miles or something?
** I didn't mean ride height, I meant ride quality, too early not enough coffee, I couldn't tell much in the quality, maybe it's becuase it's such a jump from my previous cars ride quality.
- The vortex generator can be purchased for $50 - True
- I don't like the BBS wheels - But you like the plan Enkeis that add 10lbs of rotational mass to the car?
*** I'm upgrading anyway, I'd have upgraded the BBS's also, so they weren't a pro for me
- The extra $7k (and thus an extra $300/month) I was being quoted for an MR didn't make any of these worth it. - It's not an extra 7k. Plus, this means you got the base GSR and have no HIDs or any of the SSL package
*** it was an extra $7k in the 3 dealerships I went to, and yes I have the basic GSR, no HID's no SSL.
