BTW:

During the three years I owned my MCS I felt no lessening of the urge to bang my wife or fantasize about the hot asian chick at the gym or the redhead at the supermarket. In other words, if you think the type of car you own influences your sexual orientation - it's probably only a matter of time before that closet will no longer hold you. [/QUOTE]

This cracked me up. Some of the biggest pussies I've seen drive souped up cars. Perhaps their way of making up for something that's, umm, lacking. Anytime I see a sports car I look over to see what the driver looks like. Most of the time it's good for a chuckle. I think they're the same nit wits that equate wealth with the type of car you drive LOL. Remember, the ultimate chick car now is the SUV!

They do......

It's part of an option package (PPB) that includes a big ugly wing, fake suede inserts on the seats and fake carbon fiber interior bits.

It was tempting, but in the end I decided against it.

- we'll see...

It's funny - people on the Mini Forums look down on the Evos because they feel they're ugly and tacky. People here look down on the Minis because they perceive them to be effiminate and weak. Oh well......

It's enough that we are all enthusiasts in general - doesn't really matter what the car is - that's secondary. That little bit of common ground is enough for me.........

To the original poster: the fact that some 17-19 year old kid thinks you may be gay if you drive a Mini hopefully does not factor into your purchasing decision. If you like the GP more than the Evo and can get your hands on one - I say go for it. .

I owned an MCS and prefer the Evo for a variety of reasons. In the Evo you already have one of the best factory performance packages ever released - I think in the end the Mini won't measure up.

You know, same feeling I had when I had to drive a PT Cruiser rental. It was some champagne or silver colour or something. It just didn't feel...right. It felt that it was missing a flower on the dash or something. I don't know.

Then again, to be truthful, I've been a passanger in the Cooper S and it can take corners just fine. Its a fun, spirited little car built for the tight streets of Europe. I just wish more people would drive it like it can be driven instead of worrying about breaking something if they exceed 5 MPH on the onramp. Maybe more people need pretty flowers on their dash to help me identify the ones I need to overtake on the dual lane onramps?

The skewed perception of the Mini is driven by the fact that there are trim levels for secretaries as well as true car enthusiasts. So the Mini suffers from this wide range of people it serves. The Evo on the other hand, only essentially comes one way. Whether you get a stripped down RS or an SSL GSR, the performance soul is always there. And I would have to imagine that most people who buy an Evo are serious performance enthusiasts.

Personally, I have always liked Mini's. As much as some people have bashed the car in this thread, you cannot knock the car being a huge hit since its launch. And apologies to the guy who mentioned the Mini being more girlie than a beetle. There is no car on this planet that is more god-aweful female then a VW New Beetle. At least the Mini doesn't come with a vase for its driver to "express" themselves.

I will end my shpiel by saying I would never trade in an Evo for a Mini, but it is definitely a cool car and as a car enthusiast that loves many cars, I am happy its out there...
